Thinking of removing, sanding, primer, and rattle can Herculiner on running boards. Picked these up from a buddy but they’re showing rust spots. Sorry for the dimlit pic, it’s almost dark here. Just figured a nice coat of Herculiner would be what they need. Anyone done this ?

I used the rattle can raptor liner and it didn't hold up very well at all and I'm sure Herculiner would be the same. And that was on my rocker panels, the leading edge of the running boards would be even worse. The real stuff with an air gun is pretty easy to do, if you're going to do it then do it right and you can touch it up with the spray can in a few years from now if it starts to wear through.

Or if you really don't want to do the air gun then my next choice would be to get a quart jug that you can brush/roll on.
