i have 20s on right now. would smaller wheels with the same size tires (33's) improve power/mpg? or does the tire itself need to be smaller to increase mpg a bit.

a smaller diameter tire will change your speedometer and odometer. That can easily be fixed with superchips though.

the smallest wheel you can get is 17" and if you want to keep the 33" diameter, 285/70/17 is what you will want. I don't think you will see much difference in mpg.

I agree. Its not the weight so much as it is the diameter. MPG's won't be affected much. Maybe 1-2 mpg more if that much. But the cost of new rims and tires as opposed to gaining 1-2 mpg's isn't really worth it in my opinion.

don't have the money for a car (plus trucks are just too handy to give up)..this truck will be my DD for a while...just lookin to squeeze every mpg out of it...not feeling the 20" flower pedals anymore (could sell) and tires will need replacing really soon so the tires will be a necessity rather than a want...not expecting huge gains but im tired of 11mpg..i understand its a small v6 pushing a large truck but ive heard of QC v6's getting about 16-17...a full tune up (looking for the works) is in the trucks near future as well so I figured it would be a good time to push the mpg every little bit.

Today...I have learned something...Who would buy such a thing haha

-TapATalkAholic-

My father who acts before he thinks -___- it was actually picked up for 10k with only 60k miles on it..the previous owner put the 33s on 20s that are on right now...the inside is perfect...i Kbb'ed it and it came up at about 9k for private transaction and 11k for a retail transaction. Not too shabby. I'd sell it but who's buying right now.

That truck didn't come with the 20's then, right? QC V6 you probably can run the stock 17" size and I bet it came with 245/70 micro-tires.

Changing rim size won't do a thing for you, as stated. However, going to a lighter rim will make a lot of difference.

if you have the v6 motor there isnt much of anythign you can do to get better mpg, short of losing about half the weight of the truck
