I'm installing a snowplow on my 2012 Ram 1500. I've been looking around the forum. But can't find any conversation on writing one in. Can anyone point me to the right direction? I was thinking about splicing the lights into headlights but that means both will be ON at same time....which is not ideal.

The problem with splicing into fog lights is the snowplow lights has high beam. And doesn't solve headlights hitting back of plow, blinding me.

I did some quick reading upfitter wiring kit and my truck did not come with Aux button, does the kit come with buttons to the center console?

Back when I used to run plow trucks we would run a toggle switch on the dash to a relay and splice the plow lights into the trucks headlights. Hit the toggle switch and the relay would redirect power from the trucks headlights to the plow lights. This way the high low beam on the plow lights would still function.

I would think western, meyers, or boss would have a kit or diagram.

Yes it does. You will replace any of the lower switches like heated seats and wheel with the aux switches. You will still have access to these functions in the radio.

Just wire them to the battery with a relay operated by a toggle switch you mount somewhere. I saw a member made a little panel that blocked off the tiny useless dash cubby and put 2 switches there.

Or go to the manufacture of your plow and get the lighting kit or truck side mounting, that will get you the wiring interface.
My Fisher plows when you plug in the plow connectors switch from the truck head lights to the plow lights,
and that is high and low beams also the directional and hazard flashers go to the plow lights also.

With CAN BUS you want to be careful splicing into things and changing loads. It can get expensive in a hurry.

I'm old school and love doing complicating wiring. This is the easiest route by far, and probably the cheapest in the long run.

This. The fact that you ask the question to begin with, leads me to recommend a manufactured solution.

Good luck!

Good idea I'll look for plow manufacturer harness. But I found this video and wondering if this exist in my 2012 Ram 1500 Express. . One part he says it's standard in all trucks except power wagons. I looked but I don't think I saw any extra wires taped to another. And I'm hesitant to start pulling tape off.

Nevermind about previous video, I found that it is only for 2015+ Ram 2500 and up, minus power wagons.
