So, I was about to drop the hammer on a 2016 Rebel tomorrow. But...

I'm looking at a used 2016 Rebel with 18,000 miles on it. I am currently in a 2015 GMC Sierra. I was ready to drop the hammer on this deal when I realized that this truck does NOT have the anti-spin differential. What a let down... Why in the world do they even make a 4x4 with an open differential? Makes no sense to me. Crap. Has anyone put an aftermarket Limited Slip/Anti-Spin/Locking differential in one of these? How much did it cost? Thanks in advance...

Yes you can buy the factory anti spin differential from several places. It's a pretty common upgrade. I know Moe's performance sells them. I think they are still vendors on the forum. I always assumed the Rebel came standard with an anti-spin differential. I'm kind of surprised it doesn't. That being said a anti-spin differential is an option on most four-wheel drives and is not standard equipment.

My 15 gmc z71 has a open diff.. it's just what you order. I did the anti spin upgrade to my 2010 ram while the rear axle was being built under recall. And I can tell you it made a world of difference. And you'll like the ram.

Edit my limited slip was a factory mopar unit and I picked it for a around $350 but no labor cost to install sense it was being rebuilt under recall

The Z71 package ahould have included a G-80 locking differential. Not sure why you're truck wouldn't have this. Of all the slightly used Ram Rebels' in my area, none of them have ALL the options like I want. This one is the closest, but that lack of an LSD is pretty frustrating for me. I'll likely toss and turn all night over this, ha! Sounds like you got a great deal on adding the LSD on your truck.

Anti spin was an option in 2016. It became standard in 2017.

You're still under warranty. Sadly, the dealer will have to install it. Dunno how much that would cost. I was out of warranty when I regeared front/back and dropped in a Detroit TrueTrac LSD. Labor was $500/axle.

There is brake traction control anti-spin capability built into all the RAM 1500 trucks. It will stop an out of control spinning wheel.

The anti-spin rear axle may be better, but at least there is something. (The anti-spin diff replaces BTC on that axle). There are some here that don't like the side slip you get when an anti-spin diff locks up and prefer the open diff where there is more stability.

Just saying its not completely open like those axles of years ago.

A Rebel doesn't have Anti Spin? Really?

Seems odd to me. Do you have the VIN? Easy to pull a build sheet and double check.

Yep, I pulled the VIN. IT was hard for me to believe too. They finally wised up and made it standard in 2017. Tough call for me on this one.

Some dealerships won't do this sort of thing, but you could always try to work it in as part of the deal, they install an anti-spin for you.

Most guys are getting $10k-$12k off the price of a new truck. Consider that when looking at your truck buying decision tree..

Or look for a used 2017. If they're still above your budget..wait a couple months. I'll be you'll find what you're looking for.

Good luck!

Dealers have become scandalous, last time I was at a dealer he tried the “ we can take ur trade and put you in a new truck and still send you home with a 5-9k check for bills you have”.. I was like “Holly ****” I wonder how many people that has worked on..... roll 7k into a 3.0% 84 month loan lolololol...

X2 on the new truck or having the dealer work it in.

It's not on the window sticker and when its up in the air only 1 spins. I can tell you the bells and whistles on the gmc are nicer than on the ram. But the ram drives so much better, tons more power smoother operation it's just all around better driving truck.

Really?
A loaded Laramie makes a GMC Denali look like a Model T.
That doesn't even take into consideration that the GMC's with the big square wheel openings are the ugliest trucks this side of a Toyota Tundra.

???????? Are saying if I have the anti-spin diff I don't have BTC to limit wheel spin ??

I can tell you this, on my 2012, I have both, and it is annoying if you want to spin the tires.

All axles on Ram trucks have BTC...anti-spin or not. Anti-spin does not replace brake traction control.
