I always laugh at "half ton towable". I guess for the right half ton, a stripped down RCLB, which almost no one owns outside of fleet/service vehicles. 3/4 ton can pull them all day every day without breaking a sweat though.
Actually, with my Limited I tow a similar fiver all day with no issues at all, and still get decent mpg. Towed it with a '05 Duramax, and averaged the same mpg, but now have a much better ride, and the handling is superb. No issues.

How are you towing it and not over payload? A limited is going to have like 1300-1400 lbs of payload.

Maybe later down the road....bit pricey right now...

I think I got mine on Amazon (well, my wife did for me for Christmas a couple years back), and they're only like...$350-500 depending on what you need (width, height, etc). Install can be done with a power drill and a tape measure in 20 minutes. If you're having the RV dealer do it, yeah, it's pricey there. But to do it yourself? Not too bad at all.

Dogs like the steps better too. We've got a senior dog (a little pom pom, the others are beagles) that couldn't do the fold-out steps, but she can do the SolidStep all day because it doesn't move around on her.

He is severely over his payload and probably over his RAWR as well. Just hooking it up he'll exceed payload, and that's not accounting for 400 pounds of him and his wife when they climb in or the luggage, or the 100 pound 5w hitch either.

The air bags remove the massive (warning) sag that would be there with coils. It's a testament to the truck that its still in one piece to be honest.

That said he drives very conservatively at 55 mph IIRC, and the truck has enough power to pull and stop it. It's just that payload issue, which, isn't a legally enforceable number so what's a guy gonna do.

I am confused by this statement. Please explain?

I am thinking I need to ditch my 3/4 ton diesel because I'm knocking on GVWR on our long fishing trips.

Cops can't pull you over and ticket you just because you're over the payload number.

Whether you should ignore the payload or not, that's a different question. I won't, I'll never exceed my payload to that extent.

Guys, have thread etiquette. The OP has a dually. Payload is not an issue.
Go start your own thread or do a simple search. No need to ruin another thread with payload B S.

This is called a discussion. It ebbs and flows, and changes direction temporarily or even dives into the weeds on occasion. Unless you're a mod or the OP, one really shouldn't complain. Tis life on a forum, I'm sure we're all guilty of it at some point.

There's no reason he can't steer the conversation back to where it belongs which is @OC455 new trailer. Like he said there's too many of these threads that go down the "payload police* avenue most of which are rooted in peoples misconception.
Besides usually when a mod gets involved people start getting in trouble.
so for a second time as @18CrewDually stated let's have some etiquette and get back on subject.

I'm pretty excited to have a new rig. I ordered the pucks from Benny, so those are on the way. The 7pin kit is on the way too. Going to have my neighbor give me a hand and install them when they arrive, before I have to pick up the GD 260RD. That or I borrow the neighbors truck and pay him for the gas.

He has the hole saw I need and some heavier duty/stable jacks I can use to get the bed up a bit to slide the pucks in.

Nothing like last minute right. :) I hope that Demco slider hitch is worth the money.

I have the 7pin wiring harness, waiting on everything else. Anyone know what the bed bolt size is off the top of their heads?

M12x1.75x45
18mm deep socket and about 15" of extension. Also the rear bumper comes of with 2 bolts either side and 2 nuts behind the license plate, 15mm. This is if you feel the need to slide the bed back or removal.

Sweet! I switched from TT to 5th wheel, NEVER going back. Towing is better, hookup/detach/setup is better. Tons more room compared to a similiar TT. Noticed the RDS model, floorplan looks like our new to us '16 Outdoors RV F26RDS. Great views out the back window.

And 4 feet is over the truck, so my 31 foot trailer is only 27' behind the truck bumper.

It will be much nicer in the long run as far as I am concerned. Push a button, pull a lever, unhook, push a button, camper level. Hook up power, and hoses.....DONE.

Ok,
Guys with 5'vers, how much space do you guys have between the top of the bed sides and the bottom of the 5'ver's front overhang?
