Is Fifth Wheel Towing possible with '21 RAM 2500 w/ Diesel

Maybe I am just being overly cautious but I purchased in January a Grand Design Imagine travel trailer 3100RD and not a 5th wheel mainly because my payload capacity on my 21 2500 Cummins is only 2,000#. The hitch weight on the GD is about 800# so I have no concern with driving overweight. The 5th wheels are nice but I don't want to risk my safety.

Have you weighed it? I think your tongue weight will be more than 800lbs. My sons 2670MK has 1000lbs tongue weight when fully loaded and my step-sons empty off the lot 3250BH had 1100lbs tongue weight. I'm betting you are closer to 1000lbs. The 3250 weighed 9300lbs (empty) total and the 2670 weighed 8100lbs total (loaded up).
I still think you would be ok payload wise with your truck just that I'm thinking your tongue weight is more than you think? Advertised tongue weight said 790 or so lbs on the GD site but those are without battery, without propane tanks, etc
