Hello,
This is my first post, but I am hopeful using this forum.
I have a 2012 Ram Sport with the 5.7 hemi. I have searched online for days and days, and I can't find a clear answer about cleaning the throttle body on a 4th gen ram Hemi throttle body.
I would like to clean mine, and I've gathered bits and pieces, saying that I can disconnect the battery, unplug the sensors, and taking the throttle body off to clean.
I have read that I need to use brake cleaner because it dries quickly and doesn't leave residue. I also read that I need to hold the electronic part up top so no fluid gets on the electric parts. Also, I think that spraying a lint free rag with the cleaner, and wiping down the backside of the throttle body with it, and maybe use a q-tip soaked in brake cleaner to clean around the butterfly valve so i don't push it in.
However, I was told by 2 mechanics that if I take it off and clean it, I will ruin it. They said they have to have someone inside the truck, pressing the gas pedal while the other person cleans the open butterfly valve.
My real question is, can I disconnect the battery, remove the throttle body, and clean it with a brake cleaner soaked rag and q-tip?
Or will I set off sensors and ruin my throttle body?
Thank you everyone for allowing me to post this! I look forward to the answers!

Unhook the battery, pull off the intake hoses, unbolt the 4 bolts holding the throttle body, clean with throttle body cleaner and let it dry.
