-edit- tldr: Gas gage was lying - said it had a quarter of a tank when it was actually EMPTY

so, truck was fine today until I started driving up this one hill, then power loss - engine wouldn't go over 1000 rpm and stalled.
I had a scan tool with me and got the P0171 system lean bank 1 code. Wondering if hill actually had anything to do with it, had a quarter tank full of gas and it wasn't going uphill for very long when it happened -less than a minute up the hill.

anybody think that happening uphill indicates fuel system as source or figure just coincidence?

guess its fun time with checking MAF sensors and vacuum hoses...
