Spare wheel fitment

Ok. So I’m buying 35s. Which from what I read fit the spare just fine. I also learned that the spare for some reason is an 18 inch wheel. A few questions.
what size with 18 inch wheel equals a 315/710/17.

if I go the other route and buy an oem rim, can anyone comment that it will fit in spare location.

the tire I’m going with are nitto g2s

The spare wheel on a power wagon is 17”.

Go ahead and remove the heat shield all together before installing. I beat mine back and back and back...eventually got it to fit. When I get a 5th factory wheel and drop the spare back down, I am taking it off all together.

You are referring to a Power Wagon? If you have a 18 inch wheel as a spare then someone goofed on the assembly line or the wheel and tire was removed and replaced with a different wheel by someone. You should have a standard 17 steel wheel as a spare, unless something has changed on wheel type.

Before you mount a tire on any rim that you plan to use as a Spare

Test fit the Center Bore, ( hole in the center of the rim ), with the apparatus that hangs at the end of spare tires cable

That mechanism may be to small to securely hold the rim in place

The steel rims that they use for spare tires, have a different size center bore than the Alloy Rims
The difference is not much, but it is best to be aware of it

The only scenario where you have both 1) a Power Wagon and 2) an 18” wheel with a street tire as a spare is if it was a factory error, or a previous owner replaced the spare for some reason. Wagons come with a 17” spare with a matching Goodyear Duratrac tire. No exceptions.

The 35 12.50R17 Falken MT is slightly larger in diameter by 0.1" than the 18".
