It's an electric speedo so my assumption would be it's a deviation in the electrical current. How's the alternator and battery? Are the wires on the transmission loose? Start there and then go further.

Had some time to look at it. Tested alt., batteries, cleaned battery terminals and plugs to the trans. Problem still exist so I hooked up my auto enginuity to see live data. My speed on the AE is bouncing to so I'm thinking it's the speed sensor. What do you guys think ?

Agreed, that was a passing thought as well. Those things are fairly cheap and easy to replace. Is your truck still under warranty? If so, make Ram fix it

Just powertrain. Truck has 43k on it now. Plus I don't trust the monkeys that work at the dealer.

I am surprised there is that much deviation without the truck throwing an ABS/Traction Control Light if it were a speed sensor.

I saw this on a 2014 Laramie 2500 with about 200 miles on the O.D. (Helping with Dealer Trade). I noticed it on the interstate and it would present above 70mph. Under 70 I could not detect it. The only thing that I thought could be causing it was the amount of rain I had been driving through. This was back in June or July.

I had a 2013 Laramie 1500 that the speedo jumped 1-3 MPH only when I was around 65-70MPH. Otherwise it never did it. It drove me nuts, but got rid of it due to lemon issues with other things.

My 2014 sport I haven't had it happen yet....knock on wood.

Mine now has a bounce and a delay. With at speed it bounces and when I go to accelerate it will have a slight delay before moving. Speed sensor will be changed Sunday.

Thank goodness….I thought this was going to be a bathing suit thread…...

Could happen, just saying. Santa Speedo Run and in the middle of December, my guess would be that they'd max out at 1-2 mph, lol.

My guess is replace the throttle body which also has the throttle position sensor as part of it. It worked for me when I was having that issue. I got mine from Matt at Moe's it was also an excuse to get a ported one.

Makes rpms jump up and down and seems to cause trans to shift weird. I can't remember if it messed with speedo definitely rpm. Do you have a video of what is happening?

I went back and watched the video of what mine was doing and it was more related to RPM bouncing than anything but I can't see or remember exactly what speedo did when that happened. I wanted to do the mod in case and it worked in my case no more bouncing RPM. Speed might have nothing to do with it I don't know.

I can get one. My rpm's and trans is fine. Truck it self runs and drives fine it's just the speedo bounces and has a delay.

I don't even know where the speed sensor is in these trucks. Is it from the tranny or the abs? Maybe just find that and start by cleaning connections or pricing a replacement. If it's software controlled like everything else, you may need the dealer involved.

I was thinking the same thing.
