Curious if anyone had had the issue where the speedometer needle ticks back & forth and is stuck at zero? I have a 2015 Laramie with the premium cluster. The speedometer needle starts ticking once the instrument cluster receives power (opening doors, starting vehicle, etc.) The needle does not stop ticking until the power to the cluster is cut off (10-15 seconds after vehicle is turned off).

Not exactly as you describe, but the second cluster they put in my truck exhibited similar behavior. The speedometer needle would jump around +/- 5 - 10 km/h while the truck was in motion.

The dealer replaced it as defective.

I have a 2015 Sport with the premium cluster.

Hi Jayme,

I certainly understand why this would be concerning. If you plan to address this with your dealer, please let us know. We would be more than happy to provide you with an additional layer of support for that process.

I have an appointment with the dealer in a week. We'll see what they say.

The news from the dealership was not what I hoped for. They viewed live data and confirmed everything to be reading correctly. They also scanned and didn't find any DTC's. Final result is to replace the cluster. All I can say is holy smokes this cluster is expensive. The final price w/diagnostics to replace the defective cluster is $1,042! I'm at a loss for words.

Jayme, if you are willing to try a used cluster, try http://www.car-part.com/ to check the online junkyards. I found a premium cluster out of a wrecked 2017 for my 2018 for $215 shipped. If I'd been a day sooner, I could have had one for $100 at a junkyard 15 minutes from work.

If you do buy a used premium cluster, you'll need to do your homework. It's been awhile since I've done my studying so maybe someone will correct what I get wrong. They made different ones for diesel and gas, the TPMS frequency changed in 2014, and pre-2016 clusters did not have all the splash screen options as later. You'll need to change the mileage and hours to match your truck once you get it, too. AlfaOBD with an OBDLink is your best bet, but you can send it off to have it done, too. There's plenty of info in the AlfaOBD thread along with @big daddys house videos thread in the DIY section.

And it only takes about 20 minutes to change it out.
