I have a 2016 and the middle compartment, arm rear on my truck squeaks super bad when I don’t have my arm resting on it. Anyone else have this problem and if so how did you guys fix it? I tightened all the bolts but they’re going into plastic so I don’t want to damage anything by going any tighter.

A picture would greatly help your diagnosis. I’m not sure everyone will understand what a middle compartment, arm rear is?
If you have a center console the back of it comes off and you can access the bolts. But you may need to take it out and reinstall to find what’s rubbing

Ok I’ll try and get pictures after work. I have the solid center (5 seater). It’s the top portion with the ram logo on it. If you push against it, it can move about an inch side to side. Just the top portion of it. I took this pic off google for now.

Just the slim top lid? Have you pushed down on the lid until it clicks closed? My 2013 would sometimes rattle because the lid didn't lock down. I got in the habit of closing the lid, then pushing down until it clicked in the locked position. The lower lid was always fine.

EDIT: If you can push the lid an inch side to side, I wonder if the brackets are bad and maybe the entire lid needs replacement? Maybe a warranty issue?

Yeah I always make sure it is always clicked down. I doubt they’ll cover something like that in my bumper to bumper but I guess I could try.

If you're still under the 3 year/36,000 mile warranty, they should cover it.

Long past the 36000 miles lol. I do still have full bumper to bumper coverage though.

The rolled pin in the latch has probably backed out....Google it and there are a couple of videos on Youtube to show you how to repair it.

If that's what it is it's a 20 minute job to fix it.

Ok thank you. I’ll check it out here in a bit.

Mine was doing that as well. Brought it to the dealer for repair ( warranty ). They put a thin film of white grease where the latch contacts the console. Has been silent ever since
