So I swapped out the factory speakers and my Uconnect 5.0 . Installed the Kenwood DDX 773 BH as my head unit and Alpine Type R tweeters in the dash and Alpine Type R 6x9 's in front and rear doors of my crew cab. The difference is night and day ! Next phase is to get an amp and possibly a sub ? I'm undecided on getting a sub as I'm not into hard hitting bass. My installer recommends getting the sub, but like I said I don't want over powering bass. I'm in my forties and no longer need hard hitting bass like in my younger years. I'm hoping someone can chime in on whether I should add a sub or not and if so what do u all recommend for a sub ?

I have a Polk mm840 8 inch sub and an infinity 10 for sale if you are interested. Both work and sound great. Plus a 5 channel amp to power everything. Pm me if you want more info. Neither sub would over power you yet still provide the low end you are missing.

get an alpine amp and call it done. That's what i did.
Don't miss the low end, at all.
If I want Boom boom boom, will crank up the home surround sound system.

2 type r's and an Alpine 500D and an Alpine 4 chan will give you juts enough bass. I also added alpine Headrest for the kids in the back :)

Choose a subwoofer that is geared more towards sound quality. A nice single 10 or 12 will be perfect for your wants and needs. It doesn't have to be an over powering sub and you can always keep the gains down so it doesn't sound like you have a cannon in your back seat. A nice SQ sub like Stereo Integrity MKIV or an Arc Audio Black would fit the bill nicely. They are both VERY transparent subs that sound wonderful, very rich, smooth, and won't draw attention to itself. Both subs can boogie if you want them to, but they more of a musical sub that will add girth, and body to the overall sound....not like a pair of work boots bouncing around in a dryer with a dry BOOM BOOM sound. Trust me...the two subs I mentioned will be the favorite aspect of your system if you go that route...FTR I run the Arc Black and I love it. Best of luck!

Jetsfan122,
I was searching for a front door speaker replacement fro my Ram Sport. Did the Alpine Type R 6x9 speakers fit without any issues. There don't seem to be many options to replace the stock 6x9's. I don't want to go with a 61/2''.

The type r's fit without issue. According to crutchfield , they do not fit, but I read some reviewers who confirmed they do in fact fit. I love them. I know sound is subjective, but they sound great to me, even without an amp.

Jetsfan122,
Thanks for your response. I did search Crutchfield and it was said to not fit. Thats why I asked. So far I replaced the dash and rear doors with the Kicker upgrade. I had swapped the front doors with Kicker 6 1/2'' speakers on my previous truck and found the highs just too much. In my new truck I held off on the front doors and it sounds great. I now want to replace them with 6x9's instead. I know they will sound better than stock. I know they will give more bass. Did you have to use an adapter or was it a direct fit.
Cheers.

Orion R5,
I did not install them myself. I had them installed at my local shop , but my installer assured me they were direct fit, because I was still hesitant to having them installed even after reading from reviewers on Criutchfield they did in fact fit. Glad I listened to him. I have a '16 Express btw.
