Anyone use a Lares steering gear? My old steering gear was really sloppy and after searching around I found a company that apparently manufactures these out of MN. I bought a 6 bolt head (I do a lot of towing and figured I would go heavier duty). After install, there is still quite a bit of slop - about an inch in the wheel. I can turn the steering shaft with my hand and it turns the shaft at the steering gear back and forth before engaging the pitman sector shaft. After much back and forth with Lares, they sent me a new one, but even before installing it, I notice there's play in the shaft where the steering shaft connects. I should have bought a Red Head, but thought these were brand new (not reman) so I thought they would be better option....

I use Red Head Steering Gears exclusively. You can send yours in for rebuild, or you can send them yours as a core. Your choice.

One benefit to Red Head is they install larger shafts and stronger bearings.
