Dealer doesn't do any welding. They install a reinforcement bracket for the Trac bar mount. If the mount is already cracked and needs to be welded, someone will come in and do it.

R46 recall. Mine is going in on 4/19. They will inspect the welds. If they are good, then the brackets will be installed. If the welds are bad, then the axle gets removed and a weld team comes in (2-3 wk turnaround) and then the brackets get installed.

Fingers crossed welds are good..... Was looking at mine yesterday. Nothing threw any flags other then a loose nut on the steering colum. Weird.

Truck goes in tomorrow afternoon. Hopefully they will take care of the body mount service notice too. Doubt it.... Hate when these goons get my truck. I always walk around to make sure they don't scratch it. Last time they had it they ran over a nail in my new bfgs.....

Had mine done a couple of weeks ago. They DRILL holes in the frame to mount the bracket. I am not happy about that. 8th recall and counting.

Had mine done a week ago, along with the upgraded body mounts.

I don't notice anything different with the "steering" (didn't expect to) but I definitely notice that going over sharper bumps in the road, it doesn't seem to have that harsh thump that I was used to. Not sure if I explained that properly, but it seems to ride a little nicer!

As far as drilling holes for the upgraded track bar bracket, I don't see how that is any problem? I asked about making sure they rustproof it and that is included in the instructions to the dealer. Looks like a good quality job.

On another note, maybe I'm the only one who feels this way, but I have NO problem with FCA doing recalls on my truck. To me it's better that they're being proactive and addressing potential issues, than trying to sweep things under the rug like the old culture of car manufacturers used to.

How would you like them to secure the support bracket? Super glue?

It's never good to drill a frame. What I would like them to do is fix their engineering and quality control of our vehicles. I don't think that's asking too much.

Tell me about it. Several years ago I had a Silverado in the dealer body shop to fix a door, cab corner, and bed where it was backed into. I went to pick it up and found a 2 inch long gash in the bed on the opposite side down to bare metal along with a dent in that spot. They denied they did it until I started raising a stink about it in front of other customers. They fixed the dent and repainted the bedside at no charge to me.

Well I have to give it to my dealer...they wouldn't do the body mounts but they did diagnosis the clattering issues! 6 broken stud bolts.
