I currently have ICI Magnums in stainless on my truck and I contacted realtruck.com and sent in photos because they are starting to rust and only had them for 3 months, they responded back saying they contacted the manufacturer and they are sending me a new set..now is there anything I can do to prevent the new ones from rusting? I don’t want to do anything that will cost arm and leg

Stainless (unless it’s super cheap stainless) shouldn’t rust in 3 months. Is it possible they sent you steel the first time. For the most part stainless shouldn’t be magnetic so when you get the replacements check them with a magnet, if it sticks then they are either steel or very low nickel stainless and will rust.

I coated mine with line x. Does cost some money but stands up great and adds extra grip

You just posted about those right? The main frame part of them are stainless. The foot grip part that is black is steel. Take a magnetic to it and see if it sticks really good. All stainless can and will rust at some point. Depends on which grade and how much nickel/manganese is in it. My buddy bought a boat in 2014 everything on it is marine grade stainless. The saltwater made it rust within 6 months even after washing it after every time out. I've worked with sheet metal for 14 years the quality of stainless these day are not good.

I bet the black part on your steps are just regular steel and not stainless. Also stainless steel can still rust.....

I would use bedliner on that tread plate, would be much better off.

The rust starts on the shiny edge part right under the black magnum
