This is my first post, but probably like many I came looking for answers.

I have a strange noise coming from my Ram 1500 5.7. I recently had a 4” zone lift installed. The noise didn’t happen right away, just developed last week. Other thing is I swapped to full synthetic the week prior to the noise as well. It happenes inconsistently between 1,100 and 2,000 rpm sounds like metal rubbing or vibrating. If I let off of the gas it goes away, if I give it more gas to where it goes above 2,000 rpm it goes away.

Went back to the place I got the lift and they said everything looked fine to them, and suggested maybe going to the dealership, which I plan to. Just thought someone might have heard something similar and could maybe give me a heads up.

Thanks for any help, it’s much appreciated!!

angle finder.jpg Do a google search for "proper driveshaft angles". This will give you some working knowledge. Your pinion angles might need to be adjusted.

Posting while you did as well.

The Rzeppa joint angle doesn't look good. Angled too far down for my liking.
In the front it is always a trade-off between caster angle and pinion angle. Do the best you can do there.

Get a magnetic angle finder to check your angles.

Ok, mines a 2wd, and I ordered the carrier baring spacers. I didn't see they are recommended for 2wd and 2 piece driveshaft.

I cant really hear anything in your video but wind. Not sure what kind of noise your hearing. But check the parking brake cable where it gets routed by the rear control arm. They tend to make noise right there.

I got a better local shop that is going to take a look at it in a few weeks. I wish I had done a little research about the local spots first. He says he’s had to fix over a dozen screw ups from the first place over the years. Going to end up costing me more $$$$ but it’ll be worth the peace of mind.

I’ll look at that.

Went by a new Offroad place today who said all the angles look good, but he pointed out where one of the dust guards was bent in. I bent it back and also found a few cables in the back that look like they could make some noise. Will be securing those this weekend and doing some testing!

Since it also started after I swapped to full synthetic, I’m going to try swapping to 89 gas instead of 87. It’s a long shot but worth a try I suppose

That’s what I was thinking, I’ve narrowd it down further now. If I put it in 4wd lock it completely goes away. My dad helped me listen to it and said it sounds to be coming from the front driver side tire.
Hmmm interesting check the dust shield

I think I found it!!!!! I have 2” bora spacers on the way so I can really test it out soon. It had clearance so I figured it wasn’t rubbing, but after looking at close pictures... maybe it has just enough play to rub under acceleration.
