My eco-diesel has always smelled of Coolant after driving it a short distance in city traffic, or up into the hills for 40 or 50 miles

I don't think the OP has the phantom coolant smell. This has been talked about on other threads. To my knowledge, no one has come up with the cause as to why they smell like coolant. My dad's 14 2500 with the 6.4 smells terribly of coolant. My 18 I had was the same way. I have a 17 now and somedays I think I can smell it, but for the most part it's fine. I don't have that issue. My 2022 I had never had it. There was some discussion on the degredation of coolant hoses, but I'm not sure if any of that was confirmed.

Are you slowly losing coolant? A coolant smell without visible drips could be an indicator of an evaporated coolant leak.

I have not noticed any loss of fluid
I can only think that the smell is coming from the Coolant Overflow Tank
That plastic cap is not Sealed

The tank is not under pressure and antifreeze expands in the cooling system and fills the overflow tank, no seal on the cap allows the smell to migrate around the cap being filled from the bottom of the tank I think what we're smelling is the vapor, also the cap not being sealed is acting as a vent.
