Ok New to this forum. I traded for a 2006 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 that someone had put Tranny fluid in the master cylinder. They replaced the master cylinder and rubber lines and supposedly cleaned the steel lines as well. I had to cut the front brakes loose just to get it to move around. The rear brakes never locked down but the front do even after replacing the lines, the calipers and proportioning piece on the frame. They bleed great but won't release after driving around the block a couple times. Are there any tricks or tips or advise other than junk it and move on?

Good Day and Welcome to the forums. I know lots of farmer types that use trans fluid and tractor hyd. oil in their brakes with no drastic side effects beyond soft brakes so it's hard to believe what you're experiencing is a side effect from the trans fluid. Sounds more like the master cylinder is acting up. It pressures up the brake lines when you step on the pedal but doesn't release the pressure when you release the brake pedal. Valve stuck shut. Shortly your brakes lock up. I've had that happen and it required a reblt master cylinder to remedy. HTH and Good Luck

Edit-there are other things that can cause what you're experiencing and you can always do a search on here too.

If the rubber caliper hoses are twisted when reassembling they'll lock up the calipers.
A common error I've seen before.
