This morning went out to start the truck and it stumble for about five seconds then fired. It started tapping immediately and the idle was rough. Like it was struggling to stay running. The tapping went away within ten seconds and the idle smoothed out. Every now and then I would have the slow start issues but I never got the tap. The truck ran good then after. It's a 2014 with 28,000 miles on it and oil changed regularly. Is this something to worry about? Should I switch to synthetic oil? Or trade it in? I was thinking of trading it for a 05 Power Wagon.

Dude, I bet that thing I'd about to take a CRAP! I just had a similar problem with my 12. Turned out to be a roller lifter that lost the needle bearing causing the lifter to eat the cam. Cost me $3k to get it fixed. These Rams suck!

I hope thats not the case. I'm still under warranty but with my mods I'm sure it's voided.

I'm not to confident in this truck. I loved my old 05 2500 Hemi. That truck was a beast.

It's the shotty DOD lifters. GM has the same issue with theirs.

Rip them out, swap with non DOD lifters and shut it off in the computer and these Hemi will run for a very long time.

It's not gonna matter. Just remove your tune at the least Incase the dealer wants to update the PCM (Wich they might for any reason) . The catch can and other stuff won't matter. It doesn't directly effect the powertrain. You should be covered under the powertrain warranty.

Unless you were over 100K miles you should have been under 5yr/100K powertrain warranty. That should have covered all of the repairs. If however you crossed 100K miles in less than four years, its hard to blame RAM.

I have the same issue. Lifter stuck and chewed up the cam shaft lobe for cylinder #3. I unplugged the the fuel injector and been driving it. I’m on the fence about getting it fixed, swapping the motor, or trading it in as is.

The last post on this thread was in 2016 . May want to check the dates for more current events, or not.
