Hello everyone. Any suggestions on a good sturdy side step. I bought westin hdx drop steps and after the person that installed them did a super poor job and the steps rusting out. I’m on the hunt for a good solid set that uses the rocker mounts and the pinch weld as well. Hopping to find a set of black ovals. Truck is a 2018 black big horn crew.

Frame mounted will be more stable than rocker mounted, but they are more expensive and more rare. My Luverne nerf bars mount to the body mounts on the frame and will outlast any rocker mount after a few years when the rocker panels begin to rust out.

I just installed a set of Havoc HS2 drop steps and I couldn't be happier. Very sturdy.

I know this ins't a "side step", but There are MANY options for Running Boards. I chose these from American Truck, Model: Barricade Pioneer aluminum running boards. I'm 6'ft 245lbs and they do not move. Install was pretty simple and straight forward. No rust issues as they are aluminum. Make sure to use Blue thread locker on your nuts/bolts during install.

I have Tyger Blades. They are very solid with no flex that I notice. They hug the body while still allowing area to step out. They are also durable as I had a Toyota Corolla turn into me in a parking lot and while their bumper and headlight where destroyed I only had a scuff on the steps that washed off at next car wash.
