Okay so I have two cvr kicker 12" and a 1800w amp and they hit really hard for a second then my battery meter drains and they get real quiet and of I turn them up to loud the meter goes down real low and they shut off completely until I turn it back down and my gauge goes back up. I wired it myself but I'm pretty sure i got it all hooked up right and my altinator does work bc it brings my guage back up and I unhooked my battery completely and the truck still runs. Also my battery is like 3 months old and I bought the best one o' reileys had. Amy ideas to fox it? Could it be my amp is drawing to much power? It's got 1000 rms and the subs are 400 rms a piece

Convert, for now.

check voltage AT the amp...I bet your not providing enough voltage......so dont hammer it until you have that fixed,or you can DC the coils and blow the subs.

You may need a bass cap as well, big amps need big power and steady power at that.

You need to run a capacitor, yellow top batteries work well for this because they can store 10X the power of most capacitors. You can run a yellow top battery for your car battery which will significantly help but its better to use one as a cap. Make sure all your wires are large enough as well

take a voltmeter, place it on DC and put the red wire on the big power wire and the other on the ground wire at the amp where the wires connect. check the voltage with the radio off and then check it with the them turned up a little bit and check it when it gets to the point of them starting to get quieter and turn off. It should never drop below 12 or 12.5 volts. I'm guessing you need at least a capacitor and might think about a more powerful alternator. Capacitors are easier on the amp anyway because they store power in them for those big bass moments :)

1800w amp is pretty impressive. I'd say no smaller than 2GA wire should of been used.
