They only start at 15 grand. They're also likely LA blocks and you won't be able to use tuned factory fuel injection. Only old school carb. Won't have very good longevity either. Im building mine for less than 5k and it'll be stronger, maybe not quite as much power but it'll last

15 grand! Unless you're independently wealthy and for some insane reason still driving a 2nd gen, why?

You'd never get that 6-71 blower setup under the hood without chopping the cowl and firewall away....now a 1st gen truck body, that would be cool!

Aww, what's so insane about daily driving a second gen? As long as gas stays under $3 a gallon, I'm good, LOL.

We got several inches of snow last night and pops was confident that I was going to have to shovel out my truck. Since the truck was facing to the north and the wind was coming heavy from there, I decided to turn the truck around. I took a look at the two-foot-deep drift behind it and said "eh, I can get through that." I already had the truck in 4x4, so I started the engine, shifted into reverse and plowed clean through it. I then turned the truck around and backed into the same spot, plowing through the same drift in the process. All hail 4x4 and good tires!

Ahem....
Quoting someone out of context is how wars get started these days...or at least a lot of hate. It's like quoting 1/2 the 2nd amendment to justify that only state sponsored militias can own firearms. <please take further political discussions the the correct page>

I've driven my truck daily for almost 18 years now. The difference between insanity and eccentricity is about 2 million bucks, give or take. I'm no millionaire.

Yeah, you're right, my apologies. I do have a tendency to miss context and post impulsively while intoxicated.

So, in an attempt to avert a silly hijacking of this thread on my part, I'll respond relevantly by saying that the engine in question is pretty damned sweet. $15,000 strikes me as being a bit...steep however. Also, that engine is carbureted, which is fine for old school stuff but being as how the gauge clusters in our second gens require an active ECU, it strikes me that the engine is far from "drop 'n go" in our trucks.

In contrast, a dude built a stroked 360 with a Procharger and some other stuff and a tune by Flyin' Ryan that made, as far as I can recall, a TON of torque. I don't think the horsepower was nearly as high as what Indy's offering but the engine is fuel-injected and is much more of a "drop 'n go" than the Indy engine and a LOT cheaper. I'm pretty sure there's a post somewhere around here of the build.

Ah, here it is...

410 Procharged Magnum tuned by Flyin' Ryan

Ah i think i remember that one. If im right it's an Indy/SST truck.

The hp vs tq numbers produced depends on a great many variables. Intake manifold, exhaust setup, cylinder head choice and more importantly cam choice. That truck for example likely would've seen higher numbers with more exhaust, dual 3" for example. It also uses a long duration, wide angle cam. I don't remember what cylinder heads he used.

Another ryan tuned, a 2001 1500, made 525/644. 58mm throttle body, airgap, edelbrock aluminum heads, pacesetter longtubes and a "giant cam". Never seen the cam specs but i think it was on a 110 or 112 LSA. Stock bottom end 360.
