Hello everyone,
I'm the third owner of a 2012 RAM 1500 Sport 5.7 Hemi 65RFE truck. This truck has been great the 30,000 kms I've owned it now. The odometer currently reads 251,400 kms (156,212 miles) . I know, kind of high milage but I had to buy during COVID peak and still no sign of the hemi tick.
Anyways I have a squeak that sounds like it comes from the front right, occurs over speed bumps, gravel roads, even rippled but not necessarily bumpy roads. However this squeak goes away during rain. I've greased the following with no change:
- Lower Control Arm Bushings
- Lower Ball Joint
- Upper Control Arm Bushings
- Upper Ball Joint
- Tie Rod Ball Joint
However the more concerning issue is my new clunk. I can intermittently reproduce the clunk just repeatedly shifting D - > R -> D with my foot off the brake. Doing the same thing foot on the brake creates no clunk. It is more intense if I go up the driveway curb turning left, the clunk is softer going up the driveway head on, and reversing straight out the driveway. Coincidently it also feels like this clunk comes from the front right.
Both the squeak and clunk completely disappear when loading the truck with an empty trailer and come right back when taking the trailer off.
According to the Carfax: CV Axles, Wheel Bearings, and Sway Bar Links were replaced 33,500 kms ago (Before I bought it)
Dealer can't find the cause and says come back when it gets worse, luckily I got them to waive the diagnostic fee for not finding the cause.
Any ideas would be appreciated, thanks.
