SWB Bed vs LWB Bed

I find deminsions but not the one I want. What I want to know is on the 1st Gen beds are the lengths behind the rear wheels the same? I ask this because if I need to I could cut the 16" out of one spot, I really don't want to have to cut in 2 places like the Chevy guys have to do. If I'm lucky I will find a bed that will work.

The short bed frame is 15" shorter forward of the rear axle,and 4.5" behind it

Not sure I'd bother with two cuts/splices. Leave the back long and discretely extend the frame for the bumper.
