The 2023 2500 has a pretty high tailgate level even when down. Unlike Ford there does not seem to be an option for a step assist, etc to help get in the truck bed. I'm aware of the corner bed step but with a camper shell on that is almost useless. Does anyone out there have something they have found to help get my old carcass up into the bed? Other than carrying a step ladder of course.

It's a platform made by Gorilla Ladders. I got it at Home Depot a few years ago for 20 bucks on a sale. I also have an aftermarket bed step, but using this is easier.

That's a good idea and pretty compact. I was going to cancel this post as I had not checked the internet. Did so and saw some options but most take up a lot of room on the tailgate and are not built in. So might not have seen this idea had I canceled. Thanks for that idea. I have a drywall step ladder that is more bulky and would be more of a finger pincher. Do not want to carry that around. On my 2014 3500 I put the AMP bed step on but with a camper shell on it was difficult to use.

I just have a little square flat-folding plastic stepstool that's about 10-inches high and about 1-foot square that I keep behind my Swing Case toolbox. I'm 6' 2", and even I can't get my butt up on the tailgate without it.

You can see the Bed Step deployed if you look close at the left corner of the truck. The platform legs fold up and it is easy to stow. It's a aluminum but is rated for 300 pounds. The step is great if just going up once. For in and outs loading and unloading Camping gear, the platform is easier.

Nice hogan. One of the videos is a RAM so the ladder might be tall enough for a 2500. I'll measure mine. Thanks for the link.

I can’t fully disagree , but I have the Amp fold down side step , I’ve used the step ford puts in their tailgate , it’s not bad , but IMO the Amp side is about as handy as any of them . Although I’ve never used the bumper cut out on the Chev, it too looks pretty functional.

As far as the answer for OP , I can’t see where the Amp step wouldn’t work with a camper shell on considering you step up on the tailgate , and then kneel to get in the shell . I flip the Amp step down , grab hold of the inside of the bed , and step up .

When you have the camper shell on the Ram.
Do you close the tailgate, to drive down the road ?

Or does the tailgate stay down all the time that the camper shell is on the truck.

Do you often tow anything, while the camper shell is on the Ram ?

I don't see why a bed step would not work, if you had a simple Grab handle mounted in a handy place on the camper shell.

One company that went out of business, made what was the best step for getting into the Bed, with the Tailgate down or closed.

I guess I don't understand what exactly you're looking for from RAM. Seems more like a solution should be coming from the camper shell company...?

That is really cleaver. Do you have any trouble finding the step when climbing back out? Most times I would be jumping, well hopping down off the tailgate but if moving backwards I would need to find the step again. Might seem like a stupid question but I'm sometimes that way. Just wanting to know any possible issues, in case it's hard see on the way down. Most of the time my receiver is unoccupied so this might be a good solution.

To GT Yankee. The video answered all my questions. Now to find one. I will try the Domore site. Thanks to all who responded. BTW, my knees are not what they used to be so I would still have to be careful using this step. I like the ideas of a ladder but would like to keep the bed free of items to make room for trash hauling, bicycles, etc. The tail gate ladder is pretty neat too but would interfere somewhat with what I do.
