The tailgate on my '06 2500 is rusted and nasty. Found someone with a 2010 2500 tailgate for a great price but hesitant since it's a 4th Gen. Anybody have experience with this and whether it will or will not work? Hard to find some of these older parts these days. Thanks in advance for any advice!!

Will it physically fit & work? Yes. Will it look funny because nothing will line up body line wise? Also yes lol.

Any 2002 ½ ton (not 2002 HD) to 2009 ¾-1 ton (but not ½ ton) tailgate will work.

Thank you both very much. I'm not too concerned about looks, but that would be kind of ridiculous.
I'll check out the link for direct fit parts and see if I can't find something that might not be quite so laughable!!
Appreciate you guys and this forum!!

Just out of curiosity, is it possible to switch all my badges over to the new blank tailgate or are they just likely to get destroyed trying to remove them from the old one? Are they held on by clips?

You can try but yeah you will most likely destroy them.

My flares interfeared with my badges so I relocated mine. Fishing line as mentioned, but I had my GF hold her hair dryier. You will need some goo-gone or solvent type stuff to get the residue off and I used some adhesive from 3M to reapply.
