Haha. Let's just say 8-9 months the collector rotted out and melted my knock sensor. They don't Honor warranties and they don't have a quality product. Spend the extra and get quality trust me! The absolute worst part Is doing the job twice and spending the money twice knowing had you just bought quality first you'd have a good set of long tubes out of the deal.
Just my 2¢ and expericnece.
Long tube would be a waist of time and money unless you have added lots of intake lift bigger tb along with better flowing heads 3 " ex true dule pipes. Long is for scavenging that's it. Short is for torque low end cylinder pressure. Long is up top end cylinder pressure so f*** all the long tube b.s.
Or maybe he is gonna 1/4 mile it ?!??

Dang I do for get Im stuck in the past. [emoji88] o well the restricted manifolds with pea-sized ports essentially bought at 410 horsepower and torque right that's probably why sometimes the stock intake manifolds are better than high performance even with high and flowing heads it all boils down to how fast you want to rev there you want to build it all f****** badass get there right now high RPMs that's going to be horsepower otherwise you need to restrict it low end cylinder pressure that's gonna pull. Long tube is great for scavenger no stock engine was ever set up for scavenging I promise you not sense at least 1972 73. Well maybe the LS things of that nature. It really depends on his set up. Without the specs I should probably be quit cuzz u might be right on.

Seems like a solid plan as well...aftermarket shorties seem to have some side effects like possible low quality, corrosion, amplified engine noise, etc...Yes as Rick said, if you on a budget resurface the manifolds.....bolts will not break again.
After replacing gaskets twice on both sides I learned you need to tighten them down from the center first then alternating to the ends. Do that two or three times then get up to operating temp and tightened both sides one more time in the same sequence. I have not had a leak yet after 4 years.

JBAs silver ceramic shorties have held up with many members, they just had a quality spill on the cone size that you’ll want to verify before installing.
I've been running BBK shorties for 3 years with absolutely 0 issues. If you aren't worried about performance, do the shorties. Long tubes are better but more expensive and require a little more work to install. Not to mention that you will most definitely be louder with the long tubes. Just my opinion if you don't plan on any performance upgrades in the near future.
