So I just picked up a 2003 2500 hemi in trade for my 2000 dakota 4.7l and it's a clean truck for the year. the body and interior are mint and still has undercoating and a new lift kit anyways, the engine ticks but very loudly like almost a considerable knock and I found my throttle body and intake air box had like oil blow by residue all over it so I cleaned them and put in engine restore in hopes of an easy quieting of the noise but no such luck so I'm here. My exhaust is brand new from after my cat to the end but since my cat is old could it be plugged and over heating my manifolds? I've heard a few people tell me to check my manifold bolts and that's my mission today but what is the tick caused by? It sounds like my lifter or rocker arm and the check engine light is on but I haven't been able to scan it yet

well first step is to scan the code and see what it is then go from there. it may tell you what the knock is.

Its probably a bad or going bad manifold gasket, depending on the tick, does it go away when the truck has warmed up? If it does thats what id bet, my 06 2500 ticked for almost 30k before i put headers on it, bypassed another manifold b3cause from what I've read, the manifolds for these trucks suuuuuuck

My 08 had a tick start at about 40km, then at about 120km I had one of the mds lifters go bad. Caught in time and did top end rebuild with mds delete lifters and a bunch of other performance goodies, the best part 347rwhp and better gas mileage.

Not to get off topic, but I'm dieing to see a pic of your truck. Wanna see how it sits with the 3/5 drop and 22s.
