Hey Guys,

I am looking at getting a 24' bumper pull. Dry weight of 5585 lbs GVWR of 6900lbs. The hitch weight is 550 lbs.

I can't find my truck in any of the online tow guides that I have seen so I am unsure.

its a 14 1500 5.7 crew cab 4x4 6'4 box 6 speed. With the junky 3.21 gears.

In the guides the closet I can find is 6 speed with 3.55 or 8 speed with 3.21. Not 6 speed with 3.21. Unless its a 4x2.

Does anyone have any idea? I am more looking if its under the tow ratings not necessarily if it will tow it well because of the gears. Gears I can change what its rated for I can't.

Thanks Guys

That's getting up there... a lot depends on how you pack and travel. If it's just you and another person with some light things in the truck you could be within the ratings. If you are a family of 5 and load the bed up with firewood and anvils you'll likely be over your payload.

The 13 crew cab is 7100 (closest I could find). I hate being this guy but are you sure you have the 3.21 axle? It's a rareity in the 14's. Best way to find your towing capacity is to check the GVWR(total combined weight) witch should be on your door. The GCWR should be something between 12000 and 14000, once you have that number subtract the weight of your truck and that number is what you have left to fill up it includes passangers items in the bed and the total weight of the trailer. 550 on the hitch is prefect you should have a payload in the 14-1500 range that leaves you ruffly 900lbs for passangers and supplies witch it good as long as you don't have 4 fully grown men in your truck. But a family of 4 And some furry friends I bet your fine just load as much (other than people) in the trailer and have fun.

I wish it didn't have 3.21's but sadly its true. I entered my vin on the dodge site. 3.21 rear axle. I actually found a sticker on the front diff - 3.21.

It must have been some sort of mistake because I can't "build" a truck like mine on the website, its not on any of the tow guides. All I can find on the door is GVWR of 6800 lbs. I don't see GCWR listed (which is what I would like to find out the most) and a payload of 1334. On the sticker it also lists GAWR front 3900 and rear 3900.

I tow a 25' trailer, ~ 6000 lbs with mine, ~700 lb tongue weight, and it tows fine with a weight distributing hitch.

But I have the 3.92 gears......

Here's a chart:
http://www.rambodybuilder.com/2014/docs/ram/rammlup1500.pdf

You should be alright on your total weight, but with you, gas, tongue weight, and whatever else you'll probably be over your GVWR. I'm over by about a hundred pounds when I tow mine. The axle wight rating is more than that so I don't think it's a big deal. I have air bags and a weight distributing hitch and it handles my 6900lb. trailer fine.

That's one of the tow guides that I have been looking at. It doesn't have my truck. It has 8 Sp 3.21 or 6 Sp 3.55. I have 6 Sp 3.21. That's my biggest issue. I cant find my truck listed anywhere.

You are right on the maximum for tow weight. I would use the two wheel drive specs since four wheel affects the payload and not the towing ability.

Yeah I tried entering it there too.

I emailed dodge with my vin hopefully they can give me the hard numbers.

If I go off the 2x4 numbers looks like it's 6600 lbs. This trailer will be to much I think. I just wish I had proper cut and dry numbers.

Thanks for the help so far guys

Have you checked the sticker on your door? I can't remember if that has the CGVWR.

Yeah I have looked there, just lists the GVWR of 6800 and payload of 1334. I wish it listed the GCWR. Then I could do my own math.

I know it's iffy but after some of the duck-buggering insane rigs I've seen (on here and in person) my one question is this: how far will you tow? The GVWR of the TT is the same as yer truck's, so, kind of hard to get too nutty there. You've got a nice long wheelbase and enough sense to look before you leap. An odd configuration for sure but, damn dude, it's a 5.7 hauling #6500 with a conservative #750 on the tongue when it's all said and done. Hard numbers from Ram would be nice but unless yer running the rockies or cross country it doesn't exactly sound like a truck killing combo to me. Check out the "3.21-Anyone actually......" thread on here if you haven't had the chance yet.
