So I was trying to install some weatherstripping to fix the water leakage into the cab. Put the light back in and was screwing it in. One side went in fine, the other not so much. I heard a pop, I'm assuming plastic breaking, and now the screw turns freely.

What do I need to replace? Any idea how to find the part number for this?

Man, the aftermarket is flooded with these, just google it. The hardest part is just picking one with so many cool options. Just don't get the factory ones, they are like the worst of all the choices. led's maybe the coolest.

I looked at the replacements but I didn't see where they had the back portion where it screwed into. I figure that is the portion that popped, the actual light appears to be fine.

Gotcha, night have to bite the bullet and go to the dealer or a body shop. Or shoot some sealant in the hole and put it off, probably what my lazy *** would do. Tape it tight until dried.

What sort of sealant would you throw in there? Is there anything that would keep it tight but not be permanent?

No sealant is permanent. I usually use general silicone sealant, probably kitchen and bath would work good, something a little stronger would be liquid nails. So you would likely have to break the cover when you go to replace, but like I said those factory covers are junk anyhow. Might want to replace bulb first and leave it on for a while to make sure it isn't defective. They have led replacement bulbs someone else here used, so you likely wouldn't have to ever replace it.

I'd probably use this one.

Where my light screwed into was a metal retainer clip attached to sheet metal. You may have cracked the lens or simply just broke the retainer clip... Cheap and easy fix if the housing isn't broken on the light.

Thanks, it was getting dark so I didn't take it apart last night. I plan on checking it once the kids give me two seconds to myself.

Let's us know what you find, I think like said earlier it may be the clip if it's not the light. Fix it the right way what ever the issue is.

You could try an tap the plastic. You may have just stripped out the plastic threads( which wouldn't be that hard to do)

Got it fixed, thanks everyone. It was the clip behind the light. It actually wasn't even broken. Somehow during the re install it got moved and the screw was just spinning without the clip.
