Looking to do my first upgrade and get the sounds i want. Stopped at a local muffler place and the owner suggested going with flomaster outlaw. After some research my only concern is it may be too loud, any thoughts?

I have one.
They sound great!
I left everything else stock and just swapped mufflers.
The weight savings alone are worth the cost, that factory muffler is huge.
But ultimately it will cost you gas mileage cause you just can't help but stay on the skinny pedal...

I also have the outlaw, sounds great. It did drone a bit much, I sound deadened the back seat and used an auger insert before the muffler to make it just right.

Now it sounds perfect when I hit the loud pedal.

Flowmaster often drones a lot.

I recommend one of the options from Carven, especially with the 5" tips. The Carven mufflers have a nice deep tone and are quality stainless steel. Also the 5" tips look amazing and make the tone even deeper. We have them listed here

What’s your stock gear ratio? After many hours of reading for my own purposes you often find that guys with different gear ratios experience different RPM ranges and load ranges that may cause drone, especially at highway speeds. To add more confusion, everyone has a different highway speed they consider actual highway speed. 60mph vs 80mph makes a big difference in rpm. So, while some guys say x and x mufflers don’t drone y and y mufflers do drone...just remember there is always more variables than just a muffler.

If it was me I’d avoid Flowmaster, but that’s just me. Borla, magnaflow, black widow, carven etc all make great options.

LOL--Of course the guy who doesn't sell Flowmaster is going to recommend something he (coincidentally) does sell!
Just breakin' your balls Nick!
That is a really good deal on the Carven and based on how fast my Flowmaster is rusting, probably a better choice-though I haven't noticed any drone from my Outlaw.

We actually do sell Flowmaster I just dont recommend it for that very reason, they tend to rust out quick and usually drone. Plus MOST of their mufflers are chambered which does not promote better flow. I will always recommend a straight thru style muffler over a chambered one.

Opinions on Borla, AFE, Magna flow, Gibson or MBRP ?

Was looking on Summit racing and gotexhaust.com

Thinking of just going single cat back passenger side exhaust system instead of dual

Have and use Flowmaster 40's, they are the best trade in cost, sound, and performance. good luck...

Travis, Glad to see someone from Savannah on here. I'm from Savannah and lived on Abercorn about a mile from Armstrong. The Super 10 Outlaw muffler has a deep throaty idle and takeoff sound with a little drone at certain rpms but to me it sounds pretty mean.

I started with the Carven Progressive w/ 5" tips. Nice sound, but the drone between 55-65 was way too much. Switched out the muffler only to a Borla ProXS and couldn't be happier. She roars when I want her too but has little to no drone when cruising.

FWIW, the Carven is a DIY kit, the clamps never sealed correctly, even with a replacement set sent by Carven. You best bet is to have your next muffler welded on.

Installed the FM Outlaw and the first few days, it was extremely loud. Then, it seemed to calm a bit and had to re-tighten the clamps. Much better now, sound wise.
