I've read a few threads on this issue in the older Rams...I'm having the same issue. At highway speeds or even in the city, if I need to get around someone I can count 1, 1000, 2, 1000.... It takes almost 5 seconds after I punch it for it to figure out that I want to go!

It just falls on its face for a bit. So without buying the 600 tuner, is there a fix for this?

I really don't have any mods that I think would cause it to do this.

Thoughts? Thanks!

Ensure you're not in MDS when this happens as it can be a delay in switching to 8 cyl mode before going WOT. If it's still a problem start by disconnecting the battery for 20 min to erase any adaptives the computer has learned. If it continues after that then get a programmer with a throttle boost function. If you're still not happy after that then you need more power.

It does, yes. If you have the 8.4 screen then there is a setting somewhere in there that you can display when it goes into ECO mode. If you have the 8 speed tranny with the gear + and - buttons on your steering wheel, you can press gear - while driving and lock it out of going into MDS (ECO) mode.

Keep in mind though, let's say your in 3rd gear when you do this, on the lower right of the display you will see 2 numbers, a little 3 and a bigger 3. This shows the gear your in currently (on the left) and the highest allowable gear(on the right) (cuz you were in 3rd when you did this). Simply press gear + til it increments the right digit up to 8. Now it will up/down shift on its own normally until you put it in park and then back into drive. This automatically enables MDS again.

Yes, you do have MDS. Yes, it will run in 4cyl mode. Try shifting down out of full auto into a lower gear around town.

Also, check to make sure your throttle body is clean. This is a routine maintenance item many forget to do and it will make a difference in throttle response.

The best mod I've found to improve throttle response, which I've done on quite a few vehicles, is a cold air intake. It's not expensive, it's easy to do, it will provide a small performance benefit and it will improve throttle response.

It should do this quite regularly as long as you don't drive like me and only have 2 pedal positions (WOT or not).

I had no idea my truck even did this! Holy crap! I never knew that I droped to 4cy in eco! Guess I need to get the manual out again.

Arent I a noob.

You said you had flow master for exhaust? If you listen, especially on the HWY, you'll hear it in the MDS mode. A tuner would definitely allow you to lock that out.
