2008 1500 Laramie w/ 5.7. This is my favorite Ram by far. It has the most stock hp I feel, but the throttle LAG is killing me. I hate having to downshift to pass a guy going slow in the fast lane. My first two upgrades will be an exhaust and intake. Then ill be looking into a tuner. Wheres a good place to buy these from online with good prices? Midas said for 200 they could put a 40 nseries flowmaster and tip on the stock pipes, is that going to suck? lol thanks guys!

If you're going to go Flowmaster, pony up the extra money for stainless...otherwise, you could only get a year out of it...I vote Magnaflow over Rustmaster...I mean Flowmaster...Have you ever taken your throttle body off and cleaned it?

If you live in an area with snow and salt, the rustmaster wont last all that long, maybe a year or 2 sometimes more sometimes less. They are also a chambered style muffler, so the sound will be alright but performance wont be to great. I think on the list of free flowing mufflers they are either dead last or close to it. Would definitely look at something different like a magnaflow system.

For a tuner, either Diablo or Superchips will work nice. Check out the venders section for parts for the tuners. They have some decent deals.

Now onto the "lag". That is more than likely a combo of two things. The first is the MDS switching from 4cyl to 8cyl. They say it doesnt happen but it does. The second thing is the fly-by-wire throttle. To reduce the lag there are a few things you can do. The intake and exhaust will help but not a whole lot. The tuner will help quite a bit, the DSP has a throttle response adjustment as well which will crisp things up. Another thing you can do for a reasonable price is add a ported throttle body. That will pep things up quite a bit.

OK scratch the flow master. I had one on my 2000 DAK R/T that sounded pretty good, but I do remember starting to have rust issues. Ive been looking at the Magnaflo and Borla, but Borla may be a bit pricey! Sometimes if im driving slow in the neihborhoon and I give it a tiny bit of gass, it sounds a little weird, and when i bump the gas a bit it kicks in, is that the MDS as well? Ill definitely try the ported throttle body when i install the intake. And no, havent cleaned the throttle body. Will getting an injector servive at a shop clean that up? I mean i cando it, but it really helped my 2000 Ram with 270,000 miles.

When it comes to exhaust I always tell people are you after performance or sound...if it's sound they're after then by all means get a Flowmaster...but as Truckin said, when you actually look at flow charts on mufflers, they are WELL below what you would think they are.

I don't really know if an induction service would clean the TB well...it could I guess...everyone I have seen do it, took it off and cleaned them by hand.

Well my truck is my work truck, and I pull up to customers houses all day, so I don't want to scare them! The magnaflo sounds like it might be perfect, nice rumble and really only gets loud when you open up. I'll take the throttle body off and clean it, my truck has 160k so I'm sure it needs is.

Does anyone have anymore information about the sprint booster.

http://www.sprintboosterusa.com/

Does it actually work, and if so does it work well with the rams. I also would like to increase my throttle response. I have a K&N CAI, a Borla Cat back exhaust system, and a Bullydog Tuner. I have also cleaned my Throttle body, replaced the spark plugs, and washed my windshield. lol. all of those things gave me lots of power, but the throttle response still sucks.

That looks interesting, if there chart is accurate. The only thing that sucks is that it doesn't work on the Rams with the adjustable pedals....

I noticed a HUGE throttle response change when I got my Superchips, no more lag like your talking about, once you touch the go pedal, your going. You can also shut off the MDS with the chip.

Another thing that some say works (I seen a little bit of a difference, but not much cause I already run the chip) is grounding your throttle body. Supposed to help a bit cleaning up stray signals and improving throttle response.

That works on some but not on others. Mine didn't do squat, but mine is fairly modified.

The lag is the fly-by-wire throttle. You cannot fully get rid of it but with tuning via dsp's throttle sensitivity adjustment or a full blown CMR custom tune you can.reduce it. Adding a ported throttle body to mine made it much more peppier around town. Problem I had was a vac leak that made it bounce around and a tune file that also made it jump so the combination of all those made the ported TB more of a danger than fun. It the throttle bounced the truck jumped forward/reverse quickly.
