Hi, I'm new to the dodge truck family and have a question.

I have a 02 dodge ram 1500 4.7 160k on it stock with 20" rims 275/60 tires, and my Throttle response seems slow like if the truck was dragging or didn't have enough power specially around 70mph I press on the gas and very slowly it starts to go up. It feels like if I was pulling a trailer.

Just wanted to know if this is pretty much normal since its only a 4.7 or if I should look more into it. Thanks in advance

Sounds pretty normal to me, at 70mph its not gonna jump like it does from a stop no matter what. But from a stop it there shouldnt be any delay

There is this myth going around on all the forums that if you add an additional ground to the throttle body it will give better throttle response.

Google around lol

Its on charger forums, mazda forums, lexus forums...

On our trucks it could possibly help since the throttle body is mounted onto a plastic intake manifold.

With electronic throttle, your going to have some delay no matter what... In my dad's Mega Cab, it literely took about a second and a half to kick up after I put it to the floor. That's why I like my almost instant cable throttle :)

Depending on what gears you have, stepping up to 4.10's or 4.56's will also show a huge improvement in throttle response.

Sounds normal. I know my truck is a dog from 70+ when I go WOT. But look into gears, cai, exhaust, and a tuner to get some extra power

Just did the TB ground mod and I will say that it fixed my problem where the truck would search between first and second gear if I were simply driving around 5mph. no more hesitation and bucking it now goes into second or stays in first. So im on the plus side of this simple mod

so I changed out the plugs and it looks like they might of been the original ones. They where pretty worn out. Next will be SeaFoam, let's see if all that helps it out a bit

That will definitely help, one of the first things I did when I got my truck and helped a lot in performance and mpg. I still need to try that seafoam some day...

So I drove the truck today 100miles to work after cleaning the throttle body, changing the spark plugs and doing the seafoam (1/2 on gas and the other half down the vacuum lines) I can say the truck does feel a little better but my MPG when down :-( but I think it's because my foot has been a little heavier
