Well I've had my 5.7 for about a year and a half, so I figured I'd start some engine work now! Just looking for some help and feedback as what exactly to get.
I'm wanting a tune, headers, a cold air, and of course I need a TB! Is there anything else that would be a significant increase for performance? And what brands do I need to go with?

For a tuner: A lot of people really like the Diablosport Trinity, and its the one I would go with if I was getting a tuner.

CAI: Either the S&B or the Vararam

Throttle Body: 85 or 87mm from Moes.

If you want the biggest HP gains, then this is what you want...

Moe's 87mm Throttle Body
Vararam Intake
ARH Longtube Headers
Magnaflow Muffler
Hemifever Custom Tune
Edge Tq Converter

For a smaller budget, but still a nice bump in performance, I would go with the following...

Moe's 85mm TB
S&B Intake
BBK or JBA Shorty Headers
Magnaflow Muffler
Bullydog Tuner

The tb I my sellf will be going with a moes as well heard nothing but great things about it and the service, I just want to look into headers first as well and the the 87mm.
What headers are you thinking about going with ? and have you priced them out yet.

I'll more than likely be goin with a mixture lol I don't necessarily want a custom tune, just a programmer. I planned to get a Moe's 87mm TB, and probably longtube headers. I already have flowmasters on my truck.

And I need a cold air that will work with a functional hood, and is a vararam not functional with that?

Which functional hood are you planning to run? Most functional hoods only work with the intake system that they sell with the hood itself.

You dont "NEED" a custom tune for longtubes, but with all those mods, I would at least consider the custom tune. You could always go with the InTune from Hemifever to keep the cost of the tuner under $500.

I plan on ordering the srt hood sometime next week.. Okay I've talked with the people I'm ordering it through, and it actually comes with the air box and high flow filter.

How exactly does the custom tune work? Fill me in and you might persuade me lol

If you are talking about the APM hood, then I would do like JJ did and get the LMI mid tube to replace the factory hose that leads to the new airbox.

As for custom tuning, you would just order the tune and tuner from Hemifever. After you install all your mods, just install the tuner, record a few datalogs, and then email the logs to Hemifever. He will then revise the tune and email it back to you. Then you load your new tune on the tuner, and then plug it back into your truck. Done deal.

BEST thing ever! I just got my tune form HemiFever and it's easier than falling off a log.

Highly recommend!!

I'm guessing a custom time offers everything a canned tune does? Mpg increases and all?

the canned tunes are made as a general tune for most trucks with small mods once you start adding things like long tubes you can still run a canned tune or no tune but you wont be getting all the power and your truck will not be running at its best either. also remember that all trucks are different and will not respond to mods the same as others so the canned tune might run great for one truck and run just decent for another since it is not tailored to your trucks needs

Makes perfect sense! Now one last question, how does this affect warranty? Because I still have 16k miles left and I'd like to keep it lol

everyone always reccomends taking the tune off when you take it into the dealership for any maintenance. unless the tune itself messed something up and they can prove it it shouldnt be a big deal unless the dealer you go to is just very picky about that stuff but like i said you can always take the tune off and hide the programmer and unless they have a good reason to look into it they probably wont bother checking if you have one or not

That doesn't bother me, I've seen not the smallest thing wrong with this truck in 20k miles, but my dad insists I need to keep it stock until my warranty is up.

Yea I tried to do the same but I think I messed that up since you open the hood and the first thing you see is the huge vararam intake and you turn it on and hear the sound of the long tubes and magnaflow muffler
