I was experiencing battery drain issues and A/C not working even though the mechanics computer scan indicated the message was being sent by the truck's computer/brain...and when he directly connected power to the compressor it did engage.

He said I should probably replace the TIPM. The online video from MAK (the TIPM company) said to drain the capacitors by connecting the +/- battery lead after disconnecting the batteries. Then, after replacing the TIPM and connecting the batteries, do a soft reset by turning the system on without starting the engine. I did that and got a variety of error messages that seemed to get resolved except instead of 'Press Brake and push start button' it now says 'Push clutch and press Start' but it does not start. Does anyone have experience with this issue?

The tipm has to be programmed take it to the dealer or if you. know someone with a good scantool it will work sometimes thats why its eaiser just to fix the tipm. Also whoever the mechanic is who was working on your truck sounds like he is guessing its the tipm alot of mechanics jump to conclusions that its a PCM or TIPM way to often.

Is AC working now? battery drain better? I would say the guy did have a valid theory and test, it could have been the solder joint in tipm. Usually they go out slow and over time as Opposed to just die all of a sudden. just get dealer to program.

TIPM are self learning, no programming needs to be done.
