No. Does it require a full time hot or switched hot? Lots of places to tap power,( usb, charging plug, homelink etc)

Well the power lead is literally wired into a fuse...

With that said... If it's safe to remove the fuse I'll tap into my radio power and ground since i need to remove it anyways to install the Sirius tuner ..

I was looking for a pic of mine with wiring thru it but must of deleted it. It's a blank plate below the brake master that has nuts inside under dash.

Probably gonna require some modding... Maybe I'll tap into radio power and ground.

Thats what I was thinking in my first response. Lots of power in cab, just leave fuse in dashcam feed

I forgot... I'll just use the same passthrough that my amp is ran through.. easy... Just not gonna do it right now. Knee is a mess and I'm in no shape to be dealing with expensive electronics

I wired mine into my overhead console. I have a sliding rear window, so that's what I used to get my switched power.

It does only come on when the truck is on, but my camera has a back up battery that holds a small charge in case something happens while the truck is off.

It will has a G-shock sensor. If there is a big enough "bump" it will start recording and save the footage automatically. I think a majority of the cameras do this anymore... at least the ones I looked at.

Got the two wires ran into the fuse compartment... But after a quick glance, I do not see anywhere that this fuse will fit.. it's a yellow 15a fuse, standard size... The ones that are in the truck appear to be small

I believe there is also a fuse panel on the passenger side of the dash, below and behind the glovebox. I remember watching an install video on wiring into that. But, that may have been another brand of truck... I can't remember now.

Just for what it’s worth, I wired another 12v socket behind the dash, tapped into the constant 12v that’s on the dash

I have a dual USB charger plugged into it, and routed the cables to hide them. I went ahead and plugged the dash cam in via the hidden USB, this seems like it was the lowest impact “hard wire”. bonus cause I gained a spare USB behind the dash, routed it to the glove box, and have a 20,000mah powerbank on trickle charge all the time
