Currently have 275/65/20 on the truck from from when I bought it. Family friend is offering me his tires from when his 2018 2500 that only have 5000miles that are 285/60/20. Will they fit?

The 285/60 compared to your current tires:

.60" shorter
.40" wider
11 more revolutions per mile

Should give you a 1 - 1.2 mph error at 70 mph.

Minimum safe wheel width 8". Will fit up to a 10" wide wheel.

They will fit.

Not sure about fitment, but I can tell you that is LT truck tire, meaning it's a truck tire. Alot heavier, gas mileage will take a hit and tire will be alot stiffer resulting in a stiff, bumpy ride. 2500 tires are for towing and heavy loads

It is a 2500 Laramie with the Firestone tires I believe he said was the brand, don’t know if that makes a difference.

Fit should be fine, but like it was mentioned above, LT tire is going to be significantly heavier. Worse mpg, slower to accelerate and slower to stop that weight. The diameter being smaller might mitigate some of the accel/decel, but the added width will increase your footprint=rolling resistance/friction.

So what I’m hearing is that with the money I’m saving on this deal, I should purchase a tuner...

Those tires are complete junk unless they are free i wouldn't take them. 1500 may last longer but many of the 2500s are seeing 20k or less
