I have a 2020 Big Horn with the Off Road Package. My factory tire size is 275/55/20. My question is can I run a 285/60/20 on my stock rims and not have any rub without having to install a lift or leveling kit? The stock tires are 31.9x10.8 compared to 33.5x11.2 according to a size calculator. Basically how big can I go with no rub?

or a 275/65/20 which is about 34.1" tall
I would say Yes on both of the options you're considering...I ran 275/65/20 (34.1 X 11.0) General Grabber A/TX tires on my previous truck which was a 2016 1500 Limited with no lift or leveling kit and had zero rubbing. Plus, with the additional clearance you're getting with the OR package, you should have plenty of room to fit either tire with no issues.

5th Gen rams look way too clean with a 2” front 1” rear with a 33” tire it’s a shame to not raise it up a touch

Everything Costs More the Second Time you do It..............

You not wrong !!

I'm running LT295/65R20's (equivalent to 35's) on my stock black 20" rims for my summer set up (first pic).

The second pic was with LT285/65R20's.

I'm running with 5100 Bilstein's with the fronts set to 2.1" raised and using the stock springs and stock UCA's. No rubbing at all and sits with a great stance.

What kit did you use for the lift/level and how is the ride compared to factory?
I went with the Revel Performance Lift Kit with Front & Rear Links and 2.0” Daystar Spacers (designed for trucks with air suspension)...end result was a 2.5” lift to the Normal Ride Height setting while maintaining the factory ride. I adjusted the rear links to maintain a rake of approx. 1.5” which I like for when I am towing or carrying heavy cargo. You can adjust the links to get as close to level as you want.

That all being said...if you don't have the air suspension on your Big Horn then this is not an option for you, but the good thing is you have more options for leveling/lifting with a standard suspension. The Revel Kit is really the only good quality option that I found for my truck...very happy with it so far though.

Good luck with whatever you end up doing and be sure to post some pics.

I own the only Ram suspension shop on the east coast we set these trucks up every day. @Nick@GotExhaust is a preferred vendor on this forum and the go to for products shipped to your door. He can set you up with a kit that is within your price range to achieve the look you're going for.

Thanks! We have been chatting about a few different options.

Why is everyone leveling their trucks and putting bigger tires on. The trucks were engineered for maximum
Performance. Are warranties getting voided because of the changes?

For me, it's just the look I wanted and it did allow me to run 35" tires without any concerns they would rub.

I just prefer the look and stance of a lifted/leveled truck with the larger tires. I haven't experienced any noticeable changes to the overall performance or ride quality as I have the 3.92 gears that handle the heavier tires well. I do know that I didn't help my MPGs but that's a trade-off I'm willing to make since I am not a high mileage driver.

Not sure on voiding the warranty...I'm sure a dealer could try to raise an issue if I bring it in for any suspension related problems or something they could tie back to the tires or lift kit. I've always added larger tires to my trucks (this is my 4th Ram) and haven't run into an issue with the warranty yet (fingers crossed).

Define "maximum performance".

Not enough HP to be fast in a straight line, too heavy and unwieldy for a race track, too heavy to get good mileage, not enough suspension travel for major off-roading, too weak all around to pull a 60K lb trailer like a big rig, so they aren't 'performing maximally' at anything, they make lots of compromises to be OK at everything. Mods allow us to change what compromises we make to adjust what our rigs are good at.........and they are fun.
