Hey there guys! My 18 HD is ready for some tires, what do you all suggest? My truck is a daily driver with the occasional heavy tow and I do quite a bit of off-road driving. My buddy suggested falken at-3. Is that a good tire? I have always had firestone transforce AT but have heard bad reviews on the ram hd trucks.

The only sometime knock I've seen on the falkens is some pple seem to have issues with them wearing out prematurely. I don't think you can go wrong on bfg ko2s for your needs. Great looking, go to tire.

You're right on the transforce. Always see like new ones for sale on the online classifieds. Like the goodyear wrangler sras on our 1500s. Problem tires quite often it seems.

Price wise the falken seem to be okay, my dad just has the toyo open country c/t’s on his Titan xd. They were expensive but look like an awesome tire. Anyone have an opinion on those tires?

I have had SRA's and now Falken Wildpeaks on the MY 19. A lot more tire and tread on the road, so U do lose like 1-1.5 mpg. But heck of a decent tire, runs smooth, rides well.

I Had Open Country Toyo's on MY 10 wife's Ford F150 Triton 5.4, good running tire, wears well, a little less tread on the roadway. All depends on what U R doing. I'd say IMHO either tire OK,. if U plan on towing off road, like in pasture, falken bit more tread. NOW PLS do not believe those tires Gonna Last 60K. But again, all depends upon how, where U drive and proper air pressure and rotation. I rotate tires every 5,000 with Oil change.

AGAIN, all IMHO...

CAVEAT: Now U know, asking an Opinion on what is the Best Tire etc.,. is like asking what Oil is best and filters, just saying...

I don’t have a 2500 so please understand this is more of a notice of what I’ve read from all the tire threads when looking for my next time for my 1500

- based on were you live and potential snow needs; bfg came out with a heavier compound KO2 for HD guys. They are not snow flake rated (likely as softer rubber does better in snow and ice but wears quicker under heavy load)
- there are a lot of guys with 2500 who seem to like the Cooper at3 XLT from what I’ve read

I’d pass on the Falkens, I had them for awhile and as the wore down they exponentially got worse. I then put some Open Country R/T’s on and haven’t looked back since, fantastic tires!

I had Falken AT3Ws in both of my trucks side by side. Only differences were size and load rating. The E rated ones will run circles around the P rated ones in terms of longevity. Traction in wet or snow seemed about the same. It’s a good and quiet AT tire but I won’t buy again because they only have 2 ply sidewalls. Never punctured the tire doing offroad and they don’t chunk either when doing rocky trails if you spin them so they can take abuse but been old school I like my chit with 3 ply sidewalls for extra offroad protection. The E rated ones are also on the heavy weight side so if you’re looking to maintain some MPG you can forget about that.

I had the AT3W on my 1500 in 275/65/20. They wore pretty well, were quiet, and provided good traction. I towed, plowed, and used them as a basic commuter tire- no off roading- and they did the job. Just like most AT tires, they were heavy.
I put General Grabber ATX on my 2500 and they're louder, but seem to be okay so far. I just went through torrential downpours while towing and they shed water great. No issues in an empty truck at 90 mph. After nearly 4,000 miles of towing my travel trailer I lost a couple 32nds of tread on the rear tires- not too bad considering the terrible roads and trying to get up to highway speeds quickly.

The OP did say he does quite a bit of off-roading so I think he would be very disappointed with those tires. They are barely more than a street tread.
He can do much better.
