truck came with transforce at tires. I liked them. Time to replace. Should I just get these again?
We do mostly highway driving, but do have some snow, dirt roads, and off roading (sometimes). But I guess highway is the priority, sadly (I used to do a lot more off roading).

I also do a lot of towing.

Any tire suggestions? thanks!

why are you replacing? tires aren't worn out at 1 year are they? just curious if you like them why you would change them at this point.

well, its not one year, its two. we bought it in oct 2017. also, while only 32k miles, these tires have been really beat up and are pretty worn out. lots of off road / dirt, towing, etc. I rely on my truck heavily and am not interested in running the tires bald and trying to suck every minute of life out of them, at the expense of a possible high-risk highway accident towing 10,000 lbs...

Everyone has their favorites, these tire threads always end up a confusing chorus of whatever somebody's running right now ;)

The recommendation I'll make is Continental TerrainContact AT, it's a tire I liked so much I put the same tires on both of my 4wd vehicles.

So here's the scoop on them: The tread is silent on the highway, they roll like a passenger tire. Traction on everything but clay mud has been confident, they brake and change direction very well and wet pavement braking feels really good. My other 4wd gets used off pavement with good regularity and has not suffered any undue wear, cuts or punctures in a bit over two years on these.

The singular complaint I'll make is they're heavy and that weight can be felt. That's true of any LT rated tire but it's worth mentioning.

Carry on with the rest of the recommendations :)

A couple hours ago, I went with pathfinder A/T (stock size) at discount tire. Had 33,000 on the transforces, and probably, realistically, could have gone one more rotation. Went with the pathfinders due to the fact that the ones on my 2015 CTD company truck are at 46,000, and just got rotated today while the new ones got installed on my 2017. Or, go with the transforces again if you liked them. They were good tires for me.

I had decided on this tire before posting! But a few people were reporting the 285 60/20 had some major defects and were wobbling like crazy and unbalancable. Anyone have experience with this size in this tire? It seems like a good choice to me, maybe they've got the bugs worked out?

The tires I've got on my Ram are 285/70R17 (and 265/70R17 on my Montero) - no defects or difficulty balancing either set they're like glass on the highway.

They're definitely not cheap so even a small defect would be hard to swallow at that position in the market - I hope whatever problems they apparently had on 20's has been ironed out. If I paid that kind of money and had to deal with shaking down the road they'd be hearing a lot from me!

Do there work good in snow and freezing conditions

I get all four seasons in norther Virginia. They are snow rated and have worked great in my region. That is the only experience I have with them. I will be buying these again when mine wear out.

ran Michelin LTX M/S on my 99 2500 for o15 years. Tried quite a few on my 77 f-250, BF Goodrich were probably my favorites until the michelins.
