I'm looking at the BFG KO2, the Toyo Open Country and the **** Cepek Fun Country tires for my 2015 1500 Ram Eco. I do mainly highway driving and some dirt roads and looking at the 275/65R20 size. Does anyone have any recommendations/suggestions for what would be best both traction and wear levels?

Thanks in advance!

Open Country All Terrains? If so, have you ruled out Nitto Terra Grappler AT G2's? Those would get my vote. Second choice would be KO2 because I haven't experienced the other 2 choices.

Not sure if your dead set on one of the 3 you listed, but I had great success with Cooper AT3. Good manners on and off road. Got rid of the truck they were on, but will replace my crap Goodyears when the time comes with another set of AT3's.

Yes the AT. The only reason i had those three was because they were all at the same ~280 price point. Was hoping to stay under 300 a tire if possible.

4wheelparts has Nitto Terra Grappler (LT either 8 or 10 ply cant remember) for $280 a tire...and I got them cheaper from my local guy. that's still my vote. KO2's on the same site are $324 a tire...

Here is Cooper at3 vs open country rt.
I have a set of toyo mt's and they have been great so decided on this truck to go rt series since it's a hybrid between the mt and their at. Toyos are 37x12.5r20. Found them on sale for about 340 a tire but also got 250 back in rebates so if your patient you can find a great deal on them

I went with the Toyos and stayed in the P-metric 275/60 20 - same size as stock. I know the LT tires are more robust, however I went with improved traction with minimal impact to gas mileage.

So far so good.

I vote Toyo ATII. I currently have the ATII in LT275/65r20 that you want and love them. They are 34" tire and give the truck a tall look while staying under the fender. Great traction all around. Went through 3 sets and never failed me.

I purchased Nitto Terra Grappler G2's 116 load index, XL rated tire. It has 65k mile warranty. Bought them through Discount Tire Direct for $221 each. 275/60R20's. I thought they would be louder then the OEM SR-A's.....don't even notice them. Feels like they firmed up the ride too. Bought them for the winters up here and better tire for towing.

I almost bought the fun country’s. They look super cool, but don’t know how they are long-term

I appreciate all the responses even the chiming in with other suggestions. I'm open to anything really, looking to stay in the All Terrain area but really do dirt road and highway driving. Would be nice to have mud traction but that's just in emergencies, etc... any other feedback would be great! I'm going to price things out tomorrow but not in a pinch to buy right now, just doing research ahead of time... thanks!

I've done best mileage wise with the toyo at and best traction BFG at. That said I got a solid 75% more mileage out of the Toyos with minimal loss of performance vs the BFG. I run a lot of gravel roads though. I've heard BFG has changed the tread compound now to improve the longevity of the tire, but I haven't run one of the newest sets yet. Perhaps someone running the most recent version can chime in.

Another option is the General Grabber AT2 or ATX, very similar tread design compaged to the KO2, but considerably cheaper. I've got the AT2's and am very happy with them so far.

When I bought mine I went from the worn out Wranglers to what I thought were the P rated tires...I was very happy with how little noise there was and the overall feel of the tire. Much to my surprise, I found out I had LT275/65/20 on there. So I don't know if the tire place upgraded my tire by accident or what but I'm even more thrilled since these are heavier and they feel smooth.

I was going to go with the KO2's but since I'm mainly pavement, the Terra Grapplers do better on wet roads then the KO2's. I have heard the Toyo Open Country AT are almost identical to the Grapplers but they have always been slightly higher in price so Ive never tried them. I think if I do try another tire, it will be the AT3's. My last 3 trucks have had the Grapplers so it will be difficult to change.
