Not going to lie but had allot of angst. Followed this document and nailed it first try. 275 65 20 duratracs. Measured and guessed 30mm less then recommended based on tire calculator as my height was less then tire stated when using a level. Awesome and big thanks. Cdn here and 1 km out. Happy

Hmmmmmm. This is a write up I did using info from this thread.

https://docs.google.com/file/d/1xWb...1k8LFSb/edit?usp=docslist_api&filetype=msword

I can't find the video where I cleared the codes for some reason but found where I changed the tire size and having a pre determined size already selected then adding a manual size didn't seem to matter.

I am having troubles getting this to work. I have followed the steeps at the start of this thread with no changes. I must be missing something.

2012 Ram 1500
Android S9
ODBLink MX Bluetooth

I emailed AlfaODB support before purchasing and they said the 2012 Ram was fully supported now.
  • I select Body Computer > Central Gateway Module MY2006-12 Non-PowerNet then connect
  • Select "Program tire size" enter circumference 2419mm (285/50-20) When I press start it shows the factory size and offers "Next". When I press next it only goes back to start instantly. No change, no error codes.
I go through the rest of steps even with waiting 5 min after each time I cycle the key off. Both of the Static ECU and Clearing Rolls end with function not completed, function not available (something like this).
Never any faults and the speedometer is still the same. I have tried several times with the same results.
What am I missing?

Try posting in the 06-12 alphaobd thread. You may have better luck in that thread. It's possible that the steps could be different

I'm a little confused about what hardware I need to purchase. I have a 2019 3500. Does anyone happen to have a link to what I need ?

It took to adjustments to the size but my speedo is now spot-on... I've really enjoyed the capabilities of the Alfa OBD...

I just want to check before I get started. Is the procedure to make the tire size change in the beginning of this thread the correct one for a 2017 1500? Or are there other sequences I need to be aware of?

Programming listed works for 13-18 and probably 19 classic, 1500/2500/3500

Ok I just updated my tire size and all went well except when trying to “Clear Rolling Info” Alpha said the task failed. Something about not being able to complete the task in diagnostic mode. I thought I had a pic of it but didn’t get it unfortunately. I took the truck for a spin and everything is working fine so far. I’m off by about 1-2 mph. Anyone have any thoughts on this? Is this normal?

If you don't have any check engine or abs codes showing then the failed task may just be a bug similar to changing mileage when it says it failed but actually worked. If it did indeed change your tire size then I'd say you are fine to try again

I had the same issue with the MPH being off at 75...I ended up following the instructions of someone else on here. Take a level and lay it on top of your tire, then measure from the ground to the level...go to the nearest 1/4 inch....convert that to mm and put it into Alfa....when I did that my speed is dead on.

I just installed 20” Laramie wheels and tires on my 1500 and had the same issue. I followed instructions and on the last step got the same failure message when trying to clear rolls info. I tried twice without success until I changed the last step in the process. After Static ECU Initialization I didn’t cycle the key but left it in the run position and then went through with the Clearing Rolls information step. Procedure completed! The final step included clearing the error codes in the body and abs functions.
I road tested and compared speeds with a gps unit in MPH mode and the speeds matched with the cluster speed.
This worked of me and your results my be different. Consider the possibility of another issue arising by not following the proven steps of others.

This is the input which worked for the Goodyear Wrangler SR-A P275/60R20 M + S, tire circumference 2572 MM.

For those considering changing to different wheels thought I’d share the difference in appearances to my 1500.

The original style.

The new style. I like the look of these new wheels!

Hey guys when I get to the end and go to clear rolls I get an error and that’s where I’ve been stuck for a few days now. Any idea what I’m doing wrong? The tire size I enter is being accepted and everything goes smooth until the rolls clearing then it says there’s an error.

Is there anyone in Maryland who has done this and is confident in using the Alpha ?
Did you ever find anyone with a alpha unit? I am looking to add factory switch for fog lights but not really sure I want to be messing with code. Thanks
