I was wanting to change my tires from a 4ply to a 10 ply for towing our camper. I have had 3 different dealers tell me different things about the tps sensors. 2 said they would be ok, 1 said the light in the dash would be on because the pressure in the 10ply tires would be over the factory setting for the 4 ply. Anyone changed their tires in this way? HELP

Change the tires. The tpms will still work as it should. The difference In pressure should be near the same unless your going with a bigger tire size.
If all your changing is the ply rating then everything will stay the same.

I think he’s referring to the TPMS inflation settings going from a 4 ply tire at 35psi max inflation to a 10 ply tire at 80psi max inflation, and how the TPMS will respond to inflating a tire that much over what it is set to read.
Op, I don’t think there would be an issue with the TPMS in that sense, BUT...if the placard setting for your truck is 35psi (for example), the threshold for when the low tire warning goes off is 20%. That means when the tire gets down to below 28psi, the warning pops up. If you put 10 ply 80psi tires on, nothing changes in the TPMS settings, so those 10 ply tires would go all the way down to below 28psi before it warns you of a low tire.

You would never run a 10 ply at 80 psi unless you are max capacity hauling or towing ... With no load, at 80psi the truck would ride like absolute dog **** ... I run 35” 10 plys at 42F 40R and the factory TPMS works just fine

You can use Alfaobd app to change to any threshold you want. Did it on mine and the wife's trucks already.

I run my LT's at 50 psi even when towing the travel trailer with no issues.

I agree with BOWERSFJ that you would never need to run them a 80 psi or anywhere near it.

I have heard that the TPMS does look at over inflation but I have yet to see any proof of that.

My tires would be 40% higher than the 36 psi (I think it is 36) listed on the door and I have yet to see it go off.
