Im not a chrome guy per se, but it looks good...So if i start down this part of the road...Color matched oem take-off grille...then blacked out quads from Benny...$400 total for the front end face lift. Thoughts?
First pic is my current, second pic is the grille I sourced. Am I going to Modding Hell!?!?
Then will it lead to bumpers....geez

I'm on the fence with this one.... with the chrome bumpers on your truck....I think your grill matches.

If he were going to blast and paint he bumper, why wouldn't he just blast and paint the grill?

Another possibly cheaper alternative, get them wrapped, or even attempt to wrap yourself.

Sorry no advice here but I am in for the responses, i ask myself the same question every time I walk past my truck. I am leaning toward a black mesh grill but will have to do something with my chrome bumpers as well.

Bwahahaha the mods keep coming!!
I also question this on my truck. With my chrome front I swapped to honeycomb inserts instead of slats and am contemplating a white surround but keeping chrome bumpers.
All body color looks good but its definately a personal choise!!

No such thing as "modding hell"! Its a slippery slope to get to where you think its good, then along comes some damn forum member with a killer look or idea that you cant live without...lmao

If I did wrap or paint the bumpers, its x2...chrome rear. Then that would leave chrome door handles too...then my badges are chrome I overlayed with black, but still chrome on edges, then my chrome exhaust tips.....this could be a slippery slope indeed...

Do it. Chrome belongs on old Buicks, Cadillacs and Chrysler Imperials, not modern trucks. That Silver/Black Grille will look great. Can't see your wheels really well in that photo, but if they're brushed/aluminum or Silver, replacing the stock chrome-clad lugnust with some black Gorilla Nutz is a simple mod.

LOL...Chrome is timeless but can be overdone ( I think the Laramie has too much). The blacked out/grunge look has been around for a few years now and seems to be the most popular look ( it was around in the 80's also for us poor kids who couldn't afford the nicer things :)). So, it all depends on your preference!

I also have a Laramie in Blue Streak and love the chrome with it...but its just too much chrome. My grill plan is to remove the inserts and spray them Blue Pearl...I think it'll break up the almost solid chrome front end nicely and not give me flashbacks to being a poor redneck who had to paint all the mismatched items black :)

I would do the headlights first and the go from there. Blacked out headlights will help reduce the chrome look. Just built a set of headlights that probably would tie in the chrome a little.fb31b8819de0e50bc2a4d5b8115fcdef.jpg

I know you are in a different boat with chrome bumpers but i found me a painted grille surround and left the inserts chrome. I asked about getting the grille wrapped and they said it would be $500 and there would be seams in all the corners and wouldnt be the same color of black. I found that insane! I like a little bit of chrome. Kinda wish my mirrors were color matched but i still have the laramie wheels, which if i ever get rims they will be chrome, steps are chrome and door handles. I bet if you put that color matched grille on you will have just enough paint match and chrome. Not to much of either.

I dont mind a bit of chrome mainly as accent. Everyone and their grandma are going all black with more black on black. You guys gotta upgrade your headlights! The factory quads are so bad, should be illegal.

I appreciate all the input. Im seriously torn. Cruised through my Ram dealer on Sunday to look at a lifted 2019/5Gen for ***** and giggles...There had to be a silver ‘19 classic w/ blackout. It got me to thinking...

Its gloss black on the opposite side. Black step bars, chrome exhaust tips...

I would look for a allready painted grille and have it color matched. Thats what i did. Cost me $20 to be painted. I think color matched grille will look fine with your chrome bumpers. Maybe find a chrome insert to kinda go with it unless you would rather have the black inserts.
