My personal opinion is you either go one of 2 roads: you either buy a RAM Sport if you like the one tone painted look or you buy the chrome trims if you like the chrome look. I never liked the look people get from trying to change one into the other, it just comes off as half-hearted looking IMO. You'll find most people on this particular website go for the all-painted look, I'm just not one of them. Chrome is more old fashioned but so am I ;)

I'm not a fan of the Rebel either for that reason. Those plain black plastic trim pieces look toy-ish to me because they're... well, plastic.

If you don't like chrome, you probably won't like my advice because of the cost, which would be to trade it in and get a Sport, or do an actual swap for proper body color painted bumpers. Spraying (or plasti-dipping) is a cheaper solution but unfortunately it looks like what you spend.

FWIW I like your truck just the way it is and would add some stainless steel nerf bars to compliment your existing chrome but I'm biased because I did just that (minus the rims, which I'm replacing with chrome soon). Once I get those I'll love seeing my chrome and silver truck all washed and polished reflecting the sun like a mirror in the summer :)

Actually body color and blacked out have been a fad so long that some chrome is now the in thing (Chrome without badges). :)

Seems like once every 10 years or so I'm in sync with the current styling fad.

It can be tough to get it to adhere well to the chrome. Unless you are going with black or matte wheels I agree it won't look great. Can get it painted but run into the same adhesion issues with the chrome.

how well did it hold up

Touch ups were frequent. This was not line x though. If you have a warranty through your local dealer it may be better. I would powdercoat if I were doing it again. About $250 to do them when I had looked into it.

My opinion...put some stainless step bars on it, give it a lift or a level, some nice pvd chrome wheels and slightly wider/taller all-terrain tires, and some fender flares on it and it will look just fine.

I don't care for the black bumpers. I think it makes it look like an entry level truck. Another option would be to get a front bumper for an Outdoorsman and have it painted body color. The rear bumper for a sport would also be paintable and have the dual exhaust notches. If you're lucky you might even be able to find some at a junkyard.

If your talking line-x I say go for it. It will look pretty slick but you have to complete it with black wheels too.

That being said, your color truck lends itself particularly well to chrome.

Coming from someone who has had line-x on the lower half of my old truck. Don't do it. It will look good for a little while, but then it will deteriorate. Look in the bed of any truck with a bedliner, it turns faded and chalky, so will the outside of your truck. Also, you have to scrub the hell out of it to get it clean.

I got my bed sprayed with Line X supreme with lifetime warranty. Guaranteed to stay glossy black and to not chip or scratch or they'll fix it for free. Costs a little more than the basic spray on but worth it imo. After nearly a year it is holding up as advertised.

Yep, the UV protected variety should stay shiny...
