Tonneau Covers and Car Washes

I had to mount mine on the high side of the adjustment so that the weather seal sat on top of the tailgate when closed. The only down side is that I have to release the tonneau cover, close the tailgate, then close the cover. Not a big deal but with the height of my 2500 I have to step up on the rear bumper to get enough ass on the cover to get it to latch.

i never had any issues w/ the tailgate leaking. mine was up around the cab where there was just too big of a gap. i had to add an extra layer of the foam and then seal the gaps w/ silicone.

My Bak-Flip MX4 leaks a little through the car wash. When transporting water sensitive tools I place them in a waterproof container. Tools are costly and soft covers don't give as high a security level.

I finally found a possible solution...to a yet-to-be demonstrated problem.

Found some Camper Seal, foam self-adhesive tape, 3/16" by 1 1/4". Put it on this afternoon and looks like it could work.



But also discovered a little problem (?) I had not seen before. My tonneau cover is very slightly crooked on the truck body. It's obvious when you finally see it. I am assuming that this was an after-market purchase and installation so I have no one to complain to.

I always remove my cover before a car-washing process, cause some chemicals can make a damage.
