Ive looked through quite a few forums, and i cannot find a definitive answer. I want to level out my 2002 quad cab ram and i need to know if i should just crank the torsion keys or to buy a new set of torsion keys and crank them instead. I do not want to destroy my front end. Any advice is appreciated.

Crank your stock keys. Read up on how torsion bar suspensions work and you will see how aftermarket keys are usually a waste of money. All that you are doing is pre-loading the torsion bar when you adjust (crank) in turn the pre-load is what adjusts the height of the vehicle.
The stock keys usually have enough adjustment for about 2.5" of lift, I would keep it closer to 2 - 2.25 to retain any sort of ride quality and to save wear on the front end.

Cranked mine by 1.75 inches and am very happy with the look and ride.

I have an 04 1500 quad cab, hemi 4x4. I put on some stock 20s from an 06 ram to replace the 17s I had on there. I just cranked mine 4 full turns and the truck looks alott more level. I still have decent travel in the shocks and the CV angle looks good. I actually also like how it rides alott better also, just my personal preference though. I'm taking it in for an alignment tomorrow. Next on the to do list will be new 33" tires.

I bought my 04 1500 a few months ago, and decided to tear the front end apart and replace all bearings and bushings because I felt a rough vibration. Once I had it all torn apart, found out that my cv axle on the driver side was completely stripped out, the output shaft on my front differential going to the cv shaft has no splines left. I'm thinking maybe the guy I bought it from cranked up the torsion keys too much and put the cv axle in a bind, putting too much pressure on the output shaft. The passenger side had a little play but haven't taken it off yet. Wondering what caused this so when I replace it, it doesn't happen again. Any input or problem solving is greatly appreciated. Hopefully this will help someone as well

Highly doubt the cranking of the torsion bars played any role in the stripped splines. The CV joint will be the first to fail.
