What is the toughest, roughest bed liner? I want to use it on my step bars but I want it to have a crazy amount of traction all the way over it.

Ahh well I'm needing a spray on. It would be way too hard to try to roll that stuff on to a cylinder

I'd just have someone Line-x it...get it professionally done and you won't have to worry.

My truck has had rhino lining for goodness... 10 years? And no damage, peeling, sratches or anything at all. Although the decal broke so now it just says 'no lining', hah.

Another note is we've been through 110+ temps, down below freezing. She's always been used for lumber, sports equipment, ect.

Yep line-x or anything similar will be your best bet. I spray a line-x type liner where I work. You can control how thick it is and how much texture/roughness you want. I have my bed and my little toolbox sprayed with it.

I herculined my bed, and hate it, it came out as a gloss black like it was supposed to, but faded a week after I had it, and it is easy to accidentally scrape it off... Just my opinion

You gotta add the uv protectant to the herculiner just like with any other bed liner

Any "do it yourself" bedliner will peel off if not properly installed. You have to REALLY prep the surface well first. Lots and lots of sanding and cleaning of the surface first..

Of course tape and paper off the area to your liking. I like to clean the area before sanding just to be sure i don't sand any oil, grease, etc into the scratches. I try to use at least 80 grit, but I like to use 40 grit. Next is to clean clean & clean some more. Any sanding dust or possible oil will contaminate the bond and will cause it to pull up. I use lacquer thinner to clean. The final step is to make sure it's all dried out and no residue is left. Now your ready to apply the liner.

Alright thanks, on one of the dupli color paint things it said to use dupli color prep spray. It's called Duplicolor grease and wax remover. Is this good enough? Would a self etching primer get it to stick to the chrome bars that I will sand down with 60 grit

The grease and wax remover is much like brake cleaner but it will work great.

Both sanding the chrome till its rough or using the self etching primer works.

Use 80 grit then clean with acetone thats what my shop used. The self etching works good too i used that and then sprayed bed armour on to my toolbox and its holding the cold so far

Rhino and Line X are both great. Rhino is not as easy to apply and is put on thicker so it is often not as appealing as Line X but very functional.

Well I was gonna sand down with the 60 then clean then use the primer. I tried bedlining it a while back, I sanded it down with the 80 grit and cleaned off then used bed liner and it won't stick, comes right off with my fingernail. So I'm gonna have to use a wire brush drill but to get the old stuff off, sand it down harder with the 60, then use the self etching primer then use bed liner. Does Bedliner have a shine to it?
